What makes us human? - ¿qué nos hace humanos?

A few days ago I was thinking that the founders of Rome, Romulus and Remus, were raised by a she-wolf, and based on that (with the different versions that may exist about who founded Rome and this legend), there have been several people throughout of the time that they have been raised by animals, boys and girls born in forgotten places and whose ways of reaching a jungle or a forest are unknown.
The most curious thing is that some of those children have lived eating roots and fruits, other pieces of meat (although I imagine that it would be something like carrion), because perhaps the concept of hunting was learned depending on the species that cared for them. animals felt empathy ?. But if what defines us as humans is empathy, language and intelligence, why would a human in conditions of having lived with other humans the first thing he would do in a jungle be to extract minerals before finding balance with other beings? Are we really smart to accelerate all the inevitable processes of reaching other worlds with technology, instead of having a peaceful life and growing thought trying as much as possible to take care of this world? This is done in towns non-warrior indigenous, it is cultivated, eaten, daily work is land, it is thought, observed and very rarely has the idea that killing another living being could be beneficial, and the only thing that prevents us from eating our cats and domesticated dogs is that we treat them like human babies. Hace unos días estuve pensando en que los fundadores de Roma, Rómulo y Remo, fueron criados por una loba, y partiendo de eso (con las diferentes versiones que puedan existir sobre quién fundó Roma y ésta leyenda), han existido varias personas a lo largo del tiempo que han sido criados por animales, niños y niñas nacidos en lugares olvidados y cuyas formas de llegar a una selva o un bosque son desconocidas.
Lo más curioso es que algunos de esos niños hayan vivido comiendo raíces y frutas, otros piezas de carne (aunque me imagino que seria algo así como carroña), porque tal vez el concepto de cazar lo aprendieron dependiendo la especie que los cuidara, ¿estos animales sintieron empatía?. Pero si lo que nos define como humanos es la empatía, el lenguaje y la inteligencia, ¿por qué un humano en condiciones de haber vivido con otros humanos lo primero que haría en una selva seria sacar minerales antes de encontrar el equilibrio con otros seres?, ¿de verdad somos inteligentes por acelerar todos los procesos inevitables de llegar a otros mundos con tecnología , en vez de tener una vida en paz y crecer el pensamiento tratando en la medida de lo posible de cuidar este mundo?, esto se hace en pueblos indígenas no guerreros, se cultiva, se come, el trabajo diario es tierra, se piensa, se observa y muy pocas veces se tiene la idea que matar a otro ser vivo podría ser benéfico, y la única cosa que evita que nos comamos a nuestros gatos y perros domesticados es que los tratamos como bebés humanos. Si fuera por instinto animales y humanos hacen lo mismo cuando ven un cachorro de otra especie (depende también que especie, si es una rata la matamos, pero si es un perro lo cuidamos), y eso, independientemente de que sepamos que por naturaleza o porque hemos derramado químicos en el entorno que son focos de infección que propagan las ratas, parece que aquello que nos define como "humanos" o simplemente ser más solidarios y tener inteligencia, está en forma más pura en animales que en nosotros.
