Stepping into steemit - My Intro - My Logistic Career

in #introducemyself7 years ago (edited)

I just came to know about Steemit last Dec 2017 when I shared my holiday photos at Kota Belud, Sabah to my childhood friend who is currently in Australia. He replied in whatsapp and mentioned about steemit and get some side income. All he said was just that, and I replied 'Woooo'. That it! Just thats it! I didnt even bother to google more about it. Next before my return to my sweet hometown in Labuan FREE TAX ISLAND, I met up with my brother @keithmontallana and all he talk about is steemit and gaining extra income by posting photos???? Apparently he got introduced by @danieldoughty a brother of my childhood friend who is back in Australia. LOL. Next thing I knew, another steemit user is @diamondray. Okay now, enough people I knew who is on this steemit. After some google on steemit, it make sense I'm only wasting my time for not signing up. Soon as I'm done signing up with all the long amazing password, here it is. My steemit station that I just created.

I come from a small island called Labuan, located off the coast of Sabah Borneo in East Malaysia. I'm a Malaysian citizen, born and raise in Labuan but my blood is purely Filipino. My parents are both from Philippine, met and settled down in Malaysia. And sad to say, neither of my siblings speaks fluent Tagalog (Filipino national language), we do understand but novice. Studied Logistic and graduated from Open University Malaysia, OUM.

Soon I am to be in my 3-series age, some would say I am still young but in my era we declare ourselves old. We no longer have the twenties benefits to be juvenile. I'm the youngest in the family, fan of Robin Sharma, and loves to travel.

My career. What do I do, how and where did I start?

After high school, I worked at one of the International Bank in Labuan as a clerk doing cheque clearance. Lasted for a year only. Life is to short to work on a daily routine with clock in at 8.00am out at 5.00pm. Then I moved into the Oil & Gas industry. This is when work started to become fun. I was hired as a contract staff for one year in EPCC company (Engineering, Procurement, Construction & Commissioning) for Petronas Methanol Labuan (PML), as a document controller for Hydrostatic Pressure Testing department. I am an outgoing person, so not only I manage the documents (called Test Packs), I use my overtime to follow engineers out to the plant and locate the specified pipeline or spool from the engineered drawings. While working in EPCC, I have naturally expose myself to inspection abbreviation i.e OD, WT, NDE, NDT, etc which was never existed to me before. Below photo taken on my last day at work at PML.

Later after my contract ended, I was hired to OFS (Oil-Field Services) company. It was right after I've completed my logistic studies and got offered as an Inventory Officer. It was fun at the early stages, but soon after it became a daily routine work, it became less interesting.

Before I could think about leaving the company, an opening come from a Freight Forwarding Company looking for Logistic background. I took my chance and successfully got offered as an Operation Specialist. At first thought, freight forwarding company would just be doing custom clearance for Air / Sea Freight and Import & Export. But with full of luck, the first project assigned to me is preparing to receive a Semi-Submersible Rig from Darwin, Australia to Labuan Anchorage. Work continuously became unpredictably fun in a whole new level. As an agent to a Drilling Company, I mastered in handling crew change, rig moves, fuel bunkering, fresh water bunkering, offshore tank cleaning, underwater inspection, provisions supply, load outs, back loads, vessel supply, and etc. Before I realize, I was already on my 5th year in the company. Until the Oil Prices Crash in 2016, the fame of Drilling Companies, OFS, Freight Forwarder and all related to Oil industry drops down to almost bankruptcy. It was then the company I had offered my life to marry with falls to an end by closing the office branch in Labuan. For the first time, I lose my job and became unemployed.

Proud to share the most awesome logistic movement ever. =)

Now, I am working with an offshore container supply company, recently promoted as Assistant Sales Manager. This is where my life begins as a big sister in a whole new level as a Sales person.
