Holly crap people we all made it to week 80, what an amazing journey this has been for all of us - I just want to take a quick moment to thank @luzcypher for creating a home for all of us musos, without you none of this would be happening so massive love mate.

We have seen so many artists over the 80 weeks of Open Mic, some truly insane talents that just blew us away - and ones where they grow and develop each week of the contest, it has been such an amazing honour and privilege to share your musical journeys.

Which brings me to my next point, for a while myself and @ausbitbank have been working on setting up a new discord server for Open Mic - after the Sounds of Steem this weekend I decided to open it up to the public, so please feel free to join and share.

This is going to be a great resource for musicians going forth, I will write a more detailed announcement post soon - but wanted people to know we finally have a home base, where it is far easier to interact with the music community (we already have some great musicians hanging out in there).

This week was yet again an amazing display of talent, you guys are just brilliant - I had another massive shortlist (which should just be called a list or long list really) but after giving myself a stern talking to I managed to force myself to be reserved with my selections this week.

I really wish I had more time so I could write back to you all, but it's the only down side I can see - so this week I stepped it up a little and also left some feedback for my honourable mentions list, hopefully this makes up for the shorter list overall.

I think I will try and see if I can stick with this formula for a while, see if it makes the choosing any easier - I can only hope to one day find the trick, to easily choosing my top 5.

Well without any more delays and rambling, here is my judges top 5 selection for week 80!

This week's top 5:

1st Place - @olvidesantelmo - Vos estás mirando

Holly hell guys this was just next level intense amazing, you guys just stood out the moment I heard this entry - not surprising given the band members, as I have been loving several of you independently for a while now.

This was just sublime and I cannot stress that enough, the songs composition is phenomenal in every way - you have created such an insane sound, that fills the senses to the extreme in the best way possible.

The way the instruments come together creates an almost transcendent feel throughout the song, there is a magical element to the sound as well - just pure auditory perfection.

Now for the vocals, well as always @luisferchav and @vera.carla put on one hell of a show - this was an absolute highlight for me with this song.

The way you have structured the vocals to meld in beautifully with the instruments, is just the epitome of brilliant music - couple that with the breathtaking harmonies and you guys have yourself a fucking brilliant song!

I just loved every damned second of this performance, I am stoked to hear you guys performing together again and what's more with such talented friends - this is everything I want from music.

The vocal arrangement is just something I can't get passed, what a brilliant way to have structured this - every element in perfect balance creating the most amazing sound possible, a massive thank you for sharing this with us we are so fortunate to have you guys here!

I cannot wait to hear more from you all, this is brilliant - and just when I didn't think you guys could make me love you more than I already do!

2nd Place - @moccamonica - Summertime

I don't typically go for jazz, but you guys absolutely nailed this performance and entry - just a divine combination of sounds, presented in a unique and beautiful way.

With just keys and bass you guys have created such a full and textured sound, the highlight for me as always is vocals - as a vocalist I can't help but be drawn in by an amazing voice!

You have created such a sweet and sultry sound, the vocals just fit beautifully with the chosen instrumental structure - combining to create such an amazing sound I just can't get enough of.

I love that all three of you get a chance to shine throughout the song, key's with the perfectly suited embellishments - the bass adding depth and texture.

Best of all it is all bought to sublime perfection, with the divine vocal slide (and other effects) you use to highlight and accentuate moments of the song, creating an emotional impact that people can feel as the song progresses.

This was a brilliant first entry, you have made an epic impact early on and I know I'm not the only one who looks forward to more soon - so keep at it, I am so curious to see what else you guys can create.

3rd Place - @honeymoon-1611 - We Know

Oh lovely you just keep shinning brighter each week, I just love your vocal tone and control - you're playing is always perfection and the combination of the two never cease to amaze.

You have fast become a name I look out for, I know I will always enjoy what you have to share with us - you have a beautiful clarity in the way you perform and I just can't get enough.

For someone so young your skill's are just next level, not to mention on top of it all you're singing in another language - just all round brilliant performance.

I can't imagine where you will go from here, you're a brilliant musician already - I so look forward to seeing where you're music takes you.

Again I just have to mention those bloody amazing vocals, you truly have a brilliant voice and you know how to use it to amazing effect - thank you for sharing your sublime gifts with us, it's a real treat!

I hope we will continue to hear more from you over the coming weeks and months, you have a real talent and as always I look forward to hearing more soon.

4th Place - @kayclarity - We Will Carry You

Oh lovely the feels, all of the feels at once - there is something about your voice that allows you to perfectly capture pure raw emotion, bottle it and show us what it really means to feel.

You have such a stunning vocal ability, your control is divine and allows you to display your voice to amazing effect - I always have the draw to sing along with your entries, they are not only amazing to hear but also join.

From the first note you drew me into this song, it was just such a captivating performance - brilliant playing entwined with perfect bittersweet vocals and an amazing lyric, that packs an emotional punch.

You're music is so deep and filled with themes people are instinctively drawn to, your delivery is what makes you're music stand out for me - the performance is just next level, I can't help but feel compelled by your music.

I love that your music often has a deeper meaning behind it, you capture moments to stunning perfection - I have been loving your music for sometime now and you never let me down.

5th Place - @kjablonski - Elastic Heart

Oh wow lovely how I have missed that brilliant voice, it is so lovely to have you back again - and like always just an outstanding performance and entry.

You have clear and pure talent, I just cannot get over your amazing vocal range and control - I also adore that when you cover a song, you rework it and make it your own intrinsically and perfectly designing it for yourself.

Just another beautiful display of your brilliant skills, your playing is always spot on - but for me I can't go past a brilliant voice and yours is just that.

You make it look so effortless, you always draw out the lyrics - in my opinion your version is far clearer lyrically, the lyrics are gorgeous so it's a shame when they are missed.

You highlight moments of the song perfectly, with the stunning high note highlighting power house moments - speaking of power, I have a feeling you could belt out one hell of a power ballad.

I was just so happy to see you back again and with another stunning performance like that, I just had to include you in my top 5 - I hope to see much more of you again in the future and thanks for sharing!

@drewley you have always stood out in the crowd for me, you're playing is always divine - but holy shit mate adding in another layer with singing, is there anything you can't do? Great entry mate looking forward to more.

@chaifm lovely as always, you're voice is so clear and focused I really loved this entry - the texture of your vocals gets me every time.

@gonetroppo - Like A Stone

Another beautiful song, you guys are fast becoming Open Mic favourites - sorry to hear we wont be getting any more entries for a little while. I just wanted to say the harmonies are just amazing and I love that the wind and leaves just add more feel to the song, a simply stunning performance - can't wait to get ya's back again soon!

Not something I would normally go for, but when you hear something that is just brilliantly structured and performed - it jumps out at you and is impossible to ignore. Just a brilliant display of musicianship, sublime playing and composition - and I just adore those vocals, not to mention the divine harmonies - can't wait to hear more from you guys soon.

On the note of the community I thought I'd take a moment to mention that, over at the minnow support program on our discord chat room Peace Abundance and Liberty - the recently revitalised music room has been getting rather active lately.

As well as the recent burst of activity, we have also added a jukebox to the room - so now when you're chatting with people in the music room, you can choose and play music from youtube (this includes open mic entries, I may have already played a couple I really enjoyed).

So far I have seen a few open mic regulars hanging out and about on the PAL chat rooms, now we have a place where we can actively share music live with people were chatting with - this can help musicians in so many ways, not to mention it's just fun to hang out and chat over and about good tunes.

In addition to the new music room Peace Abundance and Liberty chat rooms have a lot to offer, you can access bots to vote on your posts, you can also meet and interact with over 5000 steemians in the channel - this can be a very useful resource to new steemians, but is also a fantastic place to meet and interact with like minded individuals on many different topics.
