🎆 First Day Back at School for Katana and Kai 🎆

So after six very long weeks our two beautiful munchkins have returned back to school, it wasn't the best first day unfortunately - but at least at some points they were both smiling.

Katana and Malakai have given us a rather stressful "holiday" and I can safely say, @ausbitbank and I are both relieved the school year has started and we can finally return to their routines.

Both were eager to leave this morning and not so keen on the obligatory first day of school pics.

I am happy to say Malakai had an amazing morning, he was well behaved and generally seemed very happy to be back at school again.

He settled into his room which as luck would have it is the same one he had last year, so there was very little in the routine change for him - this really helped him cope with the sudden change of being back.

It literally took him minutes to take of his shoes and return to his normal behaviour from last year, Kai has come so far and I am so proud and amazed at how well he did today - it truly is remarkable.

This boy can't sit still for a second, but I just love that gorgeous smile.

I think most of our photos of Kai have motion blur.

But as you can see he had a lots of fun playing in the tent and then running around his class.

I wish we could get some better photos but at least I can tell he was happy.

My poor little Katana on the other hand, just didn't seem ready for grade two at special school.

She was shy and nervous and needed lots of attention and encouragement to venture through her new classroom.

At first she just wanted to hang out alone in the corner, this year she has all new teachers and a new classroom so she was a little unsettled when we first arrived.

It wasn't until daddy aka @ausbitbank came over and gave her a cuddle and she started to relax.

There may have also been some tickles to help her break the ice.

Then she really started to seem comfortable and happy in the space.

Then she finally started to explore around and see what else was in her new classroom.

Whenever Katana is happy she starts to bounce it's one of her main stims.

Whilst she wasn't ready to join in with her classmates, she was starting to take an interest in the game they were playing.

Slowly but surely, she started to move further into the room and watch what the other kids were doing.

Daddy (@ausbitbank) was a massive help for Katana today, he definitely helped her calm down and settle into her new room for the year.

At pick up time we found out they both had amazing days, not only did Katana calm down shortly after we left she ended up participating in areas she didn't last year.

Malakai's day was just as brilliant his teachers managed to record him counting to 20 and then singing twinkle twinkle little star, his voice is so beautiful it's really amazing to finally start hearing him using it.

All in all we had two very tired but happy kids, who struggled to keep awake for the drive home.

@ausbitbank and I are just relieved to have finally had a break after six weeks of non stop with the kids, school holidays are our most stressful and hectic times of the year.

I hope that soon their routine will be back on track and I really look forward to seeing, what amazing progress the two of them make again this year.
