Ancestors Encounter With UFO During The 1800's

Did people in the 1800's ever come across a UFO or ever see a flying object. I know for a fact that they did; due to the fact that a story of a UFO encounter has been passed down for years in my families oral history.

It all started when ancestors were migrating across the Sonora pass. At the height of the great migrating to California for a better life and a chance for riches. It was early in the morning during a summer in the late 1800's; at this time wagons were the means of overland migration. As they were at they peak of a summit; they suddenly saw a triangular object that flew just over their heads at great speed. They described it as being massive in size and moving at speeds thought to be impossible at the time and at an altitude that caused them to duck for cover. The encounter was brief; but left a lasting legacy as it would not be until several years later in 1903 that the first official human flight took place.
