600 year old Iron chain bridge

This iron chain suspension bridge, known as Chag-Zam (or Chaksham) is approximately 600 years old and it is located in Kitpi region of Arunachal near Tawang. It spans more than 100m in length over the river of Tawang. There were many such bridges constructed in Eastern Himalayas and perhaps only four remains intact. This bridge is one of its kind in India. It was built by Lama Chksam Wangpo.

Walking over this bridge is a thrill as it shakes with the wind and the roaring Tawang river gushes below.
