Hi steemians,

As a start, I salute all the members of the #HotNewsCommunity community who proposed in this session 5 of the Steemit Engagement Challenge an original subject that allows us to present our traditional costumes and learn about other cultures around the world.

What are your native clothing names? How much can one cost?

A visitor to Tunisia today cannot fail to notice on the streets that people are wearing clothes that differ from the usual looks. It is the traditional Tunisian dress. On March 16 of each year, Tunisia celebrates the national day of its traditional industry.

But even if you haven't had the opportunity to see it and learn about the characteristics of traditional Tunisian costumes, we put the most important traditional Tunisian clothes in your hands and present you with an image of identity and culture. of the Tunisian country.

The malia or the hram

It is a multicolored quilt worn by women, especially in the northwestern, central and southern regions, specifically in the countryside. Girls also wear the red colored haram during wedding events or circumcision ceremonies.

The Jebba

It is a loose and long dress for men worn over a group of undergarments, which types are original silk or woolen, and it is a formal dress in parties and family occasions. that men wear on the day of the marriage contract and the day of henna, as children wear it on the day of circumcision, but it is a daily garment for some men of the older generation, especially in the central regions and from southern Tunisia.

Sometimes the price of a silk embroidered dress is around (4000 TND/5200 Steem). Some businessmen or politicians buy it to wear on religious occasions and ceremonies. The regular price varies between (200 TND/270 Steem and 1500 TND/2025 Steem.)

The saf sari

The Tunisian saf-sari is a modest and authentic Tunisian white quilt, in silk or cotton fabric. It is worn outside the house and the woman covers her underwear before leaving her house. The price of the safari in Tunisia reaches 120 TND/ 162 Steem.

The barnouss

It is a traditional dress for men, made manually by women from wool of sheep or camel. It is a long open coat that includes a head covering that man puts on his shoulders in winter to cover his whole body and protect him from the cold. Its use is spreading in the northwest, the center and some southern regions, and is sold in the markets of traditional industries in Tunisia, prices vary from 300 TND/405 Steem to 800 TND/ 1080 Steem.

Fadila's shirt

It is a women's shirt made of cotton fabric striped and decorated in blue or purple, in the past it was only worn on family occasions, but today it has become a daily dress for some girls. The price of the shirt is in line with all social classes, as its price does not exceed 50 TND/ 67.5 Steem.

The balgha

They are worn in the feet, similar to shoes, but without a background for the position of the foot. They are made manually. There is a summer language and a winter one. It is made of leather. It is part of the Tunisian folk costume. It is used daily and comes in different shapes and colors.

Prices vary according to the type of leather used and the method of manufacture. While you find in the markets some of them are sold at a price ranging between 12 TND / 16.3 Steem and 18 TND / 24.3 Steem/, other types may increase in price to more than that, given their quality, well-manufactured and decorated.

The Chachia

A red cap that is placed on the head, in pure wool, one of the oldest traditional Tunisian crafts, where there is a whole market in the old city of Tunis known as Souk El Sawashin.

As for the prices of the Tunisian chachia, they start from 10 TND /13.5 Steem and reach 30 TND (about 40 Steem) for a good type of chachia. And this, before he pleases us with the existence of a folding screen called “Chachia Al-Basha”, and this article is estimated at 50 TND (about 67.5 Steem).

What is their durability? Do you think it can be allowed to be worn in other places?

At present, the Tunisian jebba is not considered an everyday outfit, because its attendance remains limited to weddings and certain occasions. It is almost an essential element in traditional Tunisian weddings, and the groom wears it either on his wedding night or on his wedding day. The majority of male wedding guests wear a dress instead of modern suits.

Despite the abandonment of traditional clothing in Tunisia and the citizens' demand for modern clothing, as the jubbah is baggy and therefore difficult to wear during work, many Tunisians still wear the jebba on most occasions.

Despite the reduction in the number of shops weaving the jebba, they still invade the majority of Tunisian markets, especially in tourist areas. Many Algerians also agree to buy it, even if it is for Tunisians.

The jebba requires choosing the type of fabric first, then handcrafting and embroidering, which makes its prices slightly high due to the high prices of used fabrics and the type of embroidery threads that are often of the silk. The majority of craftsmen exhibit the jebba in many markets, even abroad, during participation in certain exhibitions, especially in certain European countries.

Are there any similarities between your local wear and other parts of the world?

The djebba, the sarouel, the gandoura, the barnous, are clothes that are part of the Maghrebian prerogative. Whether you go to Morocco, Tunisia or Algeria, the people of these countries cherish them. However, some of these traditional clothes make the reputation of these countries.

Clothing is a form of self-expression, identity and belonging to a group, influenced by factors such as climate, lifestyle, history, beliefs, religion and cultural heritage.

Before finishing my post, I would like to invite my friends @pelon53 @franyeligonzalez @fredquantum to participate in this contest.

Best Regards,
@kouba01

Thanks for sharing a detailed article on your local attires with an adequate price of each attached. Jebba looks a bit closer to a type of a particular local attire in my tribe here in Nigeria.

The attire is known as agbádá, it's typically a long and loose embroidered dress worn on top of other dresses known as búbá àti ṣòkòtò (Local shirt and trouser).

The Agbada discussed earlier- My Picture some months ago

The Agbádá is often of the same material (type and color) as the shirt and trouser. It's a pleasure reading through this piece and I appreciate the invitation.

The jebba has many forms, and it is contrary to what you see, its fabric does not feel hot, on the contrary, it is wet, and we wear it in the summer as well. When I get the chance, I'll wear it and send you a picture.
