Cinnamon Rolls w/ Coffee Flavored Glaze & Roasted Almonds

in #food7 years ago

Hey people!

How about some cinnamon rolls today? The weather is getting colder outside, it's perfect time to sit down with a cup of coffee enjoying a fresh, soft and warm cinnamon bun, right :)

Usually I am not that good when it comes to baking pastries, I end up messing my creations up by not strictly following the recipes, this time however I told myself: "Enough is enough! No more experiments with the dough!" and good lord, it worked!

Since I've never made cinnamon rolls until today, I was trying to find something quick, easy and yet good, so I picked one from The recipe critic, please, do check it out if you plan on making these delicious balls.

Unfortunately the original recipe doesn't provide any step by step pictures, so I will share some of mine that I took in the process of preparing these buns.

The trickiest part of making the dough was kneading it until it stops being sticky, to be honest I couldn't really get mine to the point where it doesn't stick to my fingers anymore, so I just let it rest. Sprinkling some flour on the surface before rolling it out helped a lot though.

I was amazed with the way my cinnamon rolls turned out. I think it is by far the most successful try I've had with yeast based dough. I mean, would you just look at that?!

For the glaze I used a cup of powdered sugar, 2 table spoons of coffee and 3 table spoons of half & half, oh yeah, and a couple drops of vanilla extract. I guess you could use whatever kind nuts you want for this, well I had some roasted almonds around so I topped my buns with those too.

Its very good that we have today a sweet recipe "cinnamon bun", after a lot of hot & spicy recipes the sweet one is unique.... and the good thing is that we can enjoy it with hot coffee and tea.... Hope in the cold weather and hot instant Crimean coffee it will double its taste haha....

Yeah, this one is nice and sweet, luckily for me, no instant coffee here!

This really looks tasty ! In Sweden we have a pastry cookie culture and we call it fika. It's the combination of eating cookies and coffee or tea, mostly coffee. I mean all countries do this but we do it a lot. It's like this ; "do you want to meet up today". "Sure let's have a fika" it's a given one. Also in the work place we have fika twice a day. I will ask my wife to also make some nice cinnamon buns like this for next fika !

Ah that is cool! There's the same thing in Ukraine and Russia when people just get pastries/candy or cookies to enjoy with tea or coffee, usually for lunch and after dinner!

It definitely is an awesome cozy habit :)

My goood they look good and they are my favorite!!!I’ve never made any buns before, but I’ll try to cook them on my cheat day sometime, it’s the best thing with tea and coffee 😋😋😋

Agreed! Thank you @damira! It's a really easy recipe, I hope you give it a try!

It's music to me ears 🎶 :)

😁😘😘❤️

Yeah girl. These are insane. And that gif or video clip AHH! I watched it way too many times. Whoever you share with is so lucky ;)

Thank you! Sadly, I didn't make the gif! By the way, my husband still didn't even try one haha

I ate like 5 of them! No idea what you're talking about.

Wow looks so yummy, so mouthwatering buns you got there.

Thanks! You should try making those as well! Very well worth it!

Coffee and cinnamon in one sentence... that has my full attention. They look so good!

Thank you, lady :) it was my first time baking them, I'm happy with the way they turned out!

Cool, thanks :D

Ummmm, uhhh, wow yum. I am going to go out and purchase a cinnabun. You have convinced me.

That's one way to do it. I've never had a store bough cinnabun, I should try those haha

Wow those look incredible! The coffee glaze sounds like the perfect addition to the classic cinnamon roll. Great job @kotturinn!

Thanks! Yeah I was thinking if I should just do regular glaze or add some coffee to it instead and I'm a huge coffee addict so it worked!
