Mujibnagar in Meherpur district is one of the first historical places of the country. The first government of independent Bangladesh was formed on 16 April 1971 at Mujibnagar Amrakan. Then in '96 the Awami League government came to power, acquired 60 acres of land and started work on the Mujibnagar Liberation War Memorial Center. Mujibnagar Memorial, Memorial Complex, Administrative Building, Auditorium and Plaza, Six Level Rose Garden, Tourist Motel, Children's Family, Mosque and Liberation War based memorial sculptures of Bangladesh were built around Mujibnagar Amrakan. Earlier, Hussein Muhammad Ershad had built a 23-pillar memorial to commemorate the independence of Mujibnagar. Besides, various events of the liberation war have been highlighted by dividing 11 sectors through huge maps and sculptures.
Mujibnagar has been embodied in innumerable sculptures based on the liberation war. Here the whole picture of the liberation war of Bangladesh has been presented by making a memory map and museum based on the liberation war. Shows the destruction of the Pak army and the torture of women in the war of liberation. Around the created map, various images of the historical events and destruction of the Liberation War have been depicted in mural sculptures. But even today it has not been officially launched for the general public. As a result, this historical construction style has come to a standstill due to careless neglect. However, although all the memories of the liberation war are presented here, the role of the razakars during the liberation war is not portrayed anywhere.
Memorial map of Bangladesh based on the liberation war has come up on the green chest built in Mujibnagar. The map shows 11 sectors of the liberation war. Among them are the movement of refugees to India through various borders including Benapole, Bangaon, Biral, Netrokona during the war of liberation, destruction of Hardinge Bridge, hoisting of flag of Assam Abdur Rab, reading of Shahjahan Siraj's manifesto, battle of freedom fighters with Pak army in Shaldah river. And fighting, frontal battle with Pak army at Kamalpur, Kushtia and Mirpur, battle on both sides of Shubhpur Bridge, destruction of Chalna and Chittagong ports, massacre of Pak army at Pahartali and Rajshahi, destruction of National Shaheed Minar, attack on National Press Club, attack on Secretariat, Rajarbagh Police Line and Destruction of Jagannath Hall, attack on the then EPR Peelkhana, Rayer Bazar massacre, killing of intellectuals.
