Last chapter w/ Aussie pinup, Lucy Luxe!
Hiya, Steemit! I started this post yesterday, then was unexpectedly swept up in a whirlwind 24 hours. As I sit here in bed, I’m just now having a moment to catch my breath. I had a shoot this evening in Minneapolis. That rarely happens. Over the last 20 years, I’ve become firm on my rate for the time and effort it takes to complete a private session. In Minneapolis, I charge less than any where else in the world since I don’t have to get on a plane, and it’s still far above what most models in the Midwest will pay. A lovely pinup from Indiana made the trip all the way here and I’m still coming down from the art high. It was such a great shoot.
The work I wanted to share tonight is from a shoot during Viva Las Vegas. The model’s name is Lucy Luxe. She’s a lovely pinup from Australia, and booked a session with me during The Rockabilly Weekend in early 2017. As the shoot grew closer, I realized we were booked on Saturday. Normally not a problem, but this year, I had two shoots booked Saturday, and completely forgot about the Car Show. The Car Show is one of the biggest attractions at Viva Las Vegas, but I’m not a car guy. I didn’t even think of it. The problem was, @wcpublishing booked me to sign copies of Dark Pinup all day!
There’s always some stressful madness during Viva. At least once, there’s a crisis that requires creative problem solving on a moments notice. Either hair or make-up cancelling, schedule conflicts, transportation, etc. The other shoot I had that day was suppose to be in the afternoon with Lucy Fur, another beautiful pinup from The UK. Because of the Car Show, Lucy and Lucy’s shoots were slammed together, more or less. By 11:00a.m., I got a text that due to unavoidable circumstances, my shoot location fell through. This was bad. Fortunately, both models were willing to shoot at the same time, but now I was out a location.
I texted my friend Lisa Del Toro. One of those rare people in your life you always, always deliver. She’s a well connected tattoo artist in Vegas and after explaining the crisis, she texted me back with a name and address of a friend who’s home we could use. In a serendipitous turn of fate, the location was incredible! SO unique with vintage furniture, a backyard garden, and even exotic fish from all over the world. Both Lucy’s trades, virtually doing two shoots at once. The photos came out incredible and these images of Lucy Luxe will forever remind me to embrace the chaos that is Viva.
Thanks for reading! This was the last of the edits I owed Lucy Luxe, which makes another client I’ve been able to close out before Year’s End. It’s a huge relief. I freely admit that these lovely ladies have been patient beyond a reasonable expectation and I’ll forever be grateful to them for that. Tomorrow, I’ll be attempting to finish two more clients, working towards my target of having all Viva shoots done by 2019. Thanks for reading and supporting my work and art.
