Cinematic style w/ Kiwi pinup, Ceara!
The quarantine thing is getting to me a bit. Not so much because of how much time I’ve spent indoors lately, but hearing projections of how much longer this could go on. Hearing July, August feels much like running your first 0.3 miles in a full marathon. On the other hand, this is what I’ve blogged about since June of 2016. How tired I am, how much I wish I didn’t have to travel, and how much I missed my friends and family. I was productive today, and as long as I can remain productive, I’m sure I can avoid the psychological atrophy of our reality.
I wrote today, which was great, but after some family time with @vermillionfox and @guthrie, I opened Photoshop for some editing time. Tonight’s photography is from Auckland, NZ. I arrived at the airport and was picked up by my friend Miss Victory Violet. Poor thing. It was 4:00a.m., on my birthday. I also got a second birthday in the US the following day. I had a day to recover, and following that, we woke up early to meet at Shanghai Lil’s, an amazing bar in the city with interior design and decor from the set of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon!
We photographed several clients that afternoon, one of which was a beautiful Kiwi pinup named Ceara. I love having the chance to work with first time models as I feel one of my greatest strengths as a photographer. Ceara was nervous, understandably, but the location was stunning, our mutual friend, Miss Victory Violet is a world class hair and make-up artist, and I give plenty of pose suggestions and direction when I shoot. She found her rhythm rather quickly and before long, we were making stunning images like these.
I have just a few more edits to complete and I’ll be able to close out Ceara’s shoot. That’s been one of the unexpected silver linings of this awful situation. Finding time. I’m hoping that’ll be a lesson I take from this whole pandemic. When it’s over, continue to find this kind of time. Looking forward to working on a cool @eos.detroit illustration project tomorrow. The writing process for my novel seemed to have somewhat of a breakthrough this morning, so I’ll be thinking of that as I fall asleep. Thank you for the contained support and love.
Great work as usual! <3
I'm sort of getting addicted to your photos! lol
As for your quarantine life, remember everyone is feeling just the way you are brother. Just get the days in one by one and try not to think about how much this will last because we don't know to be honest, so we might as well take care of out mental health. We'll get through this. <3 :)
Thanks, @mamalikh13. Well, being addicted to them isn't bad thing because I have more photos than I could possible edit in one lifetime. There will be plenty. The home time really isn't bad. Just the disruption to my routine. I'm definitely glad to not be traveling, though. Thanks for the supportive words, man.
Always amazing to see your shots and the background colors.
Thank you, @maxwellmarcusart! I'm glad people appreciate the color decisions in the compositions. Thanks for the comment.
