California dreamin' w/ Victory Rose!

Shortly after midnight and I’m finally getting to a Steemit post before bed. Minnesota is absolutely frozen right now. Currently 7º as I’m writing this in my living room. This winter is coming fast. I typically don’t mind it, but even I’m caught of guard by how seriously frigid it is. Still, I had a productive day. I don’t talk about it much on here but I’m on a committee appointed by City of Minneapolis Council members called The Green Zone. I did some good work for an upcoming event and podcast launch, but still managed to play MTG with @tarotbyfergus at @caffetto.

I had to jump around and break my New Zealand and Australia trip streak. Scanning through my HD of an endless backlog of edits, I came across a client that I’d photographed in the Spring. This is revealing too much, I’m sure, but part of the reason I’m so unorganized with my workflow is that I’m impulsive with what I edit each day. Sometimes I just scan through, find a shoot and think “YES! This is what I’m going to edit now.”. This adorable pinup’s name is Victory Rose and she’s been incredibly patient. I owed her three more images and decided to finish her up.

Victory Rose is a California native, I think. I can’t remember her whole story. She met me at the Gable estate in Pasadena and I gave her a tour of the mansion as we got to know each other. She seemed nervous, but excited. She had with her several vintage inspired dresses and gowns, and I knew we’d create beautiful dark pinup portraiture once we’d gotten started. Seeing the sunshine in these garden shots is making the early nights and frigid cold seem all the more painful right now. Such great memories of working with a lovely model in sunny California.

These should be the last edits from my shoot with Victory Rose unless she decides to order more edits. Although being so far behind on edits isn’t a great business practice, I do love the enthusiasm of coming back to shoot after some time. Remembering the day it happened and the excitement that comes with creating art and traveling for a living. Thanks for reading and supporting my blog on Steemit.
