Today's pick in the Daily Anime Pick-Series where I pick one anime each day that I think is worth watching is Gamers!!

Although this anime is called Gamers! it is more focused on relationships and misunderstandings but it's still about games or rather our protagonists are gamers.
It is about a group of high schoolers that find together and share a common passion: Gaming. The main protagonist is Keita Amano who likes to play games for fun without too much competitiveness. He is discovered to be a gamer by school idol Karen Tendou who then desperately wants him to join the game club. During a short visit Amano discovers that this club is full of hardcore competitive gamers, a way of gaming he doesn't like too much. This makes Amano decline Tendou's offer to join the club leaving her in a state of desperation.
Since Tendou is pretty persistent she'll try to get closer to Amano which makes them further develop their relationship. Tasuku Uehara, a classmate of Amano that had a gaming past but decided to stop, becomes friends with Amano and supports him in the upcoming events. His girlfriend Aguri ends up becoming close to Amano making him believe that she is cheating. At the same time Tendou gets uncomfortable seeing the two being together even though there is nothing more than friendship between the two. And to cap it all off there is Chiaki Hoshinomori, also a classmate of Amano, who is unknowingly friends with him in an online game while not getting along in real life.
The time they spend together is a time full of misunderstandings and surprises.

This is a rom-com anime that pulls it off quite well. I certainly recommend it to anyone who at least occasionally plays games since some parts of the anime will probably be not understood otherwise. And you get to see a very beautiful and unique art style.

Description

Keita Amano is a typical high school gamer living out an average student's life. One day, however, he has an unexpected meeting with the cutest girl in school that makes him want to disappear without a trace!

This girl, Karen Tendou, is an exemplary student who is proclaimed to be the school's idol. She discovers that Amano is a gamer, and this newfound knowledge incites a passionate desire within her to recruit him into the game club. Upon visiting the club, Amano is forcefully made aware of a side to gaming wildly different than the one he loves so dearly.

Tendou's interest in Amano begins shaking up what was once an uneventful life, filling it with spontaneity, awkwardness, and a little bit of mayhem. As a result, every day becomes a comical battle for Amano's sanity as he tries to adapt to these wild, unexpected changes.
