Hemp Crete House -- Let's do the math!

Preface: As some of you might know, I have my hands in a lot of innovative projects.

This project to me doesn't seem innovative because this technology has been around for ages!! And I do mean many many ages =D Although Hemp has been around forever, we in America did not have industrial hemp growth so we didn't see as many projects using it.

My goal is to start small... Build a small structure to prove that we can accomplish this. Which it really isn't difficult just time consuming.

Other plans will be released later after the first goal is achieved.

From reading TheCannabist

Patterson says he imports the hemp as loose particles, in 30- to 33-pound bags from Europe. One of his tiny homes is usually about 120 to 400 square feet in size (For some perspective, the size of an average hotel room is 325-350 square feet). It takes about two tons, or approximately 125 bags, of hemp to build a tiny hemp house, but you can go full-sized too. A 1,500 square-foot house, or about the size of an average three-bedroom home, requires around 1,000 33-pound bags of hemp.

So let's say we are just building a tiny house first. That is about 4400 pounds (2.2 tons) of Hemp for a 400 square foot structure.

The current price for 900 pounds of 100% hemp hurd from the above-sourced link is $612

So 4400 / 900 x 612 = $2992 (Just for hemp.)

What are your thoughts? Any insight is most welcoming!
Do you know anyone in the Hemp Industry that could be of assistance? Or do you want to get involved?

One love my Steemian's! Hope everyone is doing well if not GET well soon! =D

Hemp is miraculous; it's ancient yet it's the future, go figure! I wish people would open their eyes to the power of hemp industrially like this but also for gasoline, plastics, and textiles instead of straw-manning us thinking we're a bunch of wishy-washy hippies who deny these products altogether. Less pipelines, more pipes (and hemp)! :)

Definitely. lol had to look up Straw manning. Definitely agree, we shouldn't be labeled because we want high quality construction. Everything about quality insulation (especially if the growth of it helps the enviornment and the land) and sustainable products turns me on.

The technology we have now can make green living a turn key operation without having a large carbon footprint. Although it is fun to get old school with it and spend time on a healthy project. (getting lost in thought lol)

@girlsofgreen - What "small" structure would you like to see built?? Like the youtube video I saw of a dog house made using this method.

It's a really cool idea, and it's really a shame that hemp was unavailable for so long when it could've been helping to solve problems all that time. Thanks for sharing!
