The Hustle #1 (It doesn't have to be stressful)
Do you remember Mr Ajao?
C'mon you should.
He was the subject of a comprehension in our primary school Macmillian.
Or didn't you use Macmillian in your primary school?
Well maybe you have forgotten about him. I'll do well to toggle your memory.
Anytime I think about primary school, a strong nostalgic feeling deals me a good blow.
Those afternoons after the 1:30 till 2pm long breaks - Mine was a private school - We would sit and have English lesson. We always read the Macmillian. On the few occasions we didn't, we used another text book called, "Better English".
Of all the stories in that rich Macmillian text, Mr Ajao's stuck in my heart the most. Maybe it was the circumstances surrounding that afternoon tho.. I guess I had been seriously whipped, and so I was very sober while reading the passage.
Mr Ajao was a hard-working, poor farmer who went to his farm everyday and worked hard. He worked hard till evening. One day, as he worked hard on his farm, his hoe hit a hard substance... On digging further, he found it to be gold. He had struck gold. He would become rich. End of story.
You know, a whole lot of entrepreneurs have this Mr Ajao mindset.
They believe that as long as they continue doing things the way they are doing things, one day they will hit gold.
But this is not always true.
As a matter of fact, hard work is very important, but knowing how to smartly place this hard work, is golden.
It's not about how much time or energy you put into it, hustling.. It's about the results you get.
More time or more energy doesn't always mean results.
Truth is, you can work as hard as Mr. Ajao all your life and you'll still get no gold.
Hard work doesn't guarantee success.
It is being smart that does.
Dear entrepreneur, strategically do things.. Don't just perspire.
It is not hard work that will bring what you need, it is doing the right thing at the right time.
It doesn't have to always be stressful.
Think on this.
