My Video Camera Collection

in #videography7 years ago

Hello everyone.

If you are a content creator on Dtube or on any other video platform then you'll probably find this blog pretty interesting.

I am sure most of us video content creators share the same passion and that is collecting video cameras.
I am not a professional videographer and I don't really need all this equipment but I could never say no in buying a new video camera.

I know most of you guys out there prefer the awesome Full HD resolution DSLR Cameras offer us these days but since I am kind of "vintage", I prefer the older non-HD image. It's jsut that old-school feeling that makes old cameras priceless to me.
Well, enough typing, let me show you what I mean.

This is my Video Camera Collection

From Left to Right, these are the cameras I am using

  • Rollei Actioncam 425
  • Sony DCR-SX33E Handycam
  • Sony DCR-TRV255E
  • Sony DSR-PD170

I use each one of them for different purposes so let's take a closer look at them one at a time

Rollei Actioncam 425

I have been using this one for over 3 years now and all I can say is that I am pretty happy with it. As most of you know, action cameras are mostly used in sports or other physical activities and that is the exact reason I bought this baby, cause I wanted to film skateboarding!
This was the camera I have been using for over 6 months filming all my Dtube vlogs and skate clips. The video image is good (full HD 60 fps), the battery lasts more than an hour and the wide lens is satisfying. The only problem I faced was with the microphone. Poor sound capturing but whatever, I bought this one for 100 Euros rand new and it is still works like a charm.
Great buy for a secondary camera if you ask me.

Sony DCR-SX33E Handycam

I can't really tell you much about this one cause I bought it like 4 days ago but I am pretty damn satisfied until now. Pretty simple to use, long-lasting battery (over 1 hour), great audio capturing and HQ video (more than 5 hours of recording with a 32 GB Memory card) plus this one is so small so you can always carry it with you.
I used to own a couple of Sony Handycams in the past and I was pretty happy with them.
I bought this one for 40 Euros including a camera case.

Sony DCR-TRV255E

Time for the good stuff. The Sony DCR-TRV255E is a gift from one of my homies as it was just sitting for years at his house. This one is an almost 20 year old cam recorder and it works like a brand new one. The TRV255 is not as good as the TRV900 (probably the best TRV series Camera) but it stands on it's own pretty good.
The image quality is awesome, the sound capturing is good, great stabilizer and the battery lasts for over 1 and a half hour. The only problem I am facing is that I can't find DV tapes and if I do a 60 minute tape costs more than 8 Euros.

Me and the crew use the TRV as our secondary camera while filming serious skateboarding tricks and if you are wandering which one is our main camera, it's about time you find out.

Sony DSR-PD170

This is the best camera I have hands down and I feel so proud of having one. The Sony DSR-PD170 is a classic when it comes to skateboarding filming (along with VX1000 and VX2100).
When this one was first-launched back in 2004 it was considered one of the best professional cam recorders and I can't blame them. Perfect sound quality, a ton of settings to make your footage look so much better, perfect stabilizer, battery that lasts for more than 3 hours plus it records in Mini DV tapes which are easy and cheap to find.

I bough this one for 250Euros including a wide angle lens and a camera case.
Here is our crew's most recent Sony DSR-PD170 montage

As you can see, it does not record in HD and that is exactly the reason I bought it. We want to film an old-school vibes skateboarding video and the PD170 is just the perfect camera to do it.

Fun Fact : The camera weights over 5 pounds with the battery and the wide lens on!

So this is my Video Camera collection my friends. Some people collect stamps, some other people collect shoes and some other even collect soda cans.
My passion is collecting cameras and I don't think I will stop stacking more and more. I'll probably end up with a room of cameras when I grow old lol!

Thank you all for taking the time reading my blog and I would love to learn more about your precious "babies". I am not interested in Gimbals, lights and other video equipment, just cameras. And if anyone of you has any cameras, Mini DV and DV tapes for sale I am more than willing to buy them (and pay with Steem of course).

Much love to everyone and stay safe.
Cheers from the "Daltons Camera Family".Hehehe

I would like at least one like the little one that looks like Go pro, I would record much better, but as we always say, just wait for the steem to come up, I am always limited with my phone only has to record 10 minutes hahahaha, little by little things will happen.

Yeah bro, just be patient and good things will happen!
