Yesterday I bought some SBD
Now that SBD is around the $1 mark, it may actually make sense to buy some of it as a store of value again.
At the same time I am not too optimistic about the steem price at the moment, so I decided to turn my liquid steem into SBD yesterday.
It is only a tiny amount, but still isnt it nice to be able to just swap your steem for sbd and vice versa, internally on the blockchain without needing to go thru some exchange, fees and all that crap.
I hope we get to have our SBD peg work eventually so we can take advantage of the apoils of SBD more frequently.
Aktuell existrieren 15,7 Millionen SBD. Die Anzahl der virtuellen steem zur Deckung der SBD beträgt 13 Millionen. Beim Kurs von 1,14 USD pro steem besteht bereits eine kleine Unterdeckung (13x1,14 = 14,8). Die Funktion zur Konvertierung (=De-Virtualisierung) der SBD wurde Ende 2017 vom Steemit-Desktop entfernt. Die Produktion neuer SBD ist schon stark gedrosselt und könnte bei weiterem Kursverfall des steem ganz zum Erliegen kommen. Folgerungen:
SBD ist (fast) genau so spektulativ wie alle Cryptocoins.

Verstehe ich nicht. Peg scheint nach unten gut zu funktionieren. Was meinst du mit Deckung? Die SBD sind nach meinem Verständnis nicht gedeckt, sondern werden einfach gedruckt bei Konvertierung?
Bekanntermaßen inflationiert steem und somit können überhaupt Payouts bezahlt werden. SBD werden nach genau festgelegten Regeln produziert und dafür werden "virtuelle steem" gebunden.
Die ausgeschaltete Funktion "convert to steem" löst die Bindung auf und SBD verschwinden, während virtuelle steem zu realen steem werden.
I think virtual supply is simply a metric that adds the sbd to the steem supply to come up with a more realistic supply number, but there is no bucket of steem to back the sbd. If i am not mistaken the sbd simply get printed or burned when created or converted, just as the steem do. As such the peg to the bottom will work as long as the marketcap of steem does not fall to fast. There is no simple way to look this up so maybe i am wrong. My knowlege hereof simply comes from asking dev and witnesses.

He figures out that SBD is a debt in steeem.
Still confused. There is no bucked of steem to back the sbd. The conversion just prints steem unless the debt linit is reached. Am I wrong?

If we didn't run into a few major expenses back to back which I'm trying to figure out how to pay for (boiler blew up & Wife was rear ended by an uninsured motorist on a car we just dropped full coverage on) I'd be buying SBD right now too. Seems like a perfect time to be buying.
As it's mid term or long term investment, your choice is good! On the other hand I think it wasn't the best best spot to buy it:(

Some of my steem fellows are predicting steem to go to 18 $ by December. That is why i have converted all of my sbd's to steem. Hopefully it will be a good decision.
I hope so too.... But there is a lot of time to benefit a bit, me thinks
