Bounty $10: Looking for a new headset.

in #bounty10 years ago (edited)

I need a new headset.

I have a gaming HS from logitech that was about $200, but it cuts out and the sound quality is not the best. Especially the microphone quality is not good enough to do recordings with. That is a problem.

I am looking for a headset that:

  • has the absolute best microphone or recording quality.
  • has the best sound quality.
  • is comfortable to wear
  • ideally is wireless
  • below $500 (expecting this to be between $150-$300)
  • Generally looking for quality above everything else
  • needs to work on PC and MAC
  • ideally i want to buy this on amazon to save 20% with bitcoin and purse
  • I am not a gamer, but use the headset for work (i.e. calls and webcasts) general listening and recording

What does not matter very much:

  • size, in fact i likely prefere bigger over smaller
  • price: i don't care if its $100 or $200. I don't want something that cost less than $100

I did some quick google search but could not really figure out what I want to buy.

Since this bounty is just 10, I am simply going to give the person the 10 that convinces me to buy the HS.

Epic bass.
Big cups.
Microphone.
High level sound quality, price that isn't unreasonable. I mean, don't be the guy who buys Monster cables just because they cost more. This one looks like a good product for your money, and will please you greatly.

If you want to have a clear microphone, I recommend you buy a stand-alone microphone. If you want the best microphone quality, it needs to be a bit bigger than the sort that you'd put on headphones.

Still, I'm sure these would please you. But wireless?
Of course not. Wireless requires lowering the quality of everything.

If you want wireless, I recommend buying some wireless headphones too, and having two sets. Wireless for when you don't care if it lags or sounds horrible, wired for when you're serious.

I also found these products, all of which look good or better than my first recommendation.

I really do recommend getting a standalone microphone. I mean, it sounds like you're serious about quality, and if you are, you need to have good headphones, and ONLY headphones, no mic, and then buy a dedicated microphone, and make sure that's quality too.

I actually have a blue snowball and i have used it in combo with my boese headphones. That might actually be an interesting approach.

The issue with the snowball is i have to keep it at the same distance to my mouth in order to have solid quality.

Get hacky.
It's your machine. Make it work for you. Even if you need to break some plastic, or tape wires together, even solder stuff, I think you have the right to do whatever you want to your machines.

Beyerdynamic MMX 300.

+extremely good mic
+extremely good sound
+comfortable with velour pads.
-not wi-fi
-a bit bulky, annoying superlong cable
-expensive

sound test here. at right angle and maybe with a double pop filter it sounds like a professional mic.

check also the Sennheiser Game One.

or the Game Zero

the Game One sounds better I read but it's open back ( meaning it bleeds audio) while the Game Zero are closed back.
the mic I guess it is the same on both.
