THE FORBIDDEN FRUIT
maybe it was lust
maybe I was foolish
maybe I had a choice
or just played blonde
I didn't refuse
the signs were obvious
I wanted to decline
my body stayed and I couldn't budge
It was midnight
and the moon blessed me with it's light
Illuminating the figure
that now glistened with pride
I tried to be smart
stalling time with small talk
who was I kidding
this was no walk in the park
soon I ran out of ideas
and the time was nigh
I gave it one last kick
but the feelings wouldn't move
I brought this on myself
this pleasure was all my fault
I had tasted of the tree
and savored it's luscious fruit
the tree was innocent
It was only a tree
and I... a man
guilty of my lust

Interesting poem.
thank you
well done. it always raises the proverbial question, is the short term lust worthy of the long term consequences?
Sometimes consequences turn out to be the fix needed to discern the right path... So maybe the short term lust is worth it
i will beg to disagree sir, immediate satisfaction...especially that which stems from lust, is never worth it.
Right question.
the answer will always be NO
I do like poetry but I am still rather new to it so I don't always understand what i read. I had to read this one twice before understanding it, but now I really like it! :)
Thanks for sharing!
