THE FINAL BLINK
Lost to the night
Shadows are borne
With nightly might
My senses rage to keep awake
Why fight and loose, when all is at stake
Fleeting time, abusing its power
To make the moon appear and the day cower
I know I lost this battle
I shut my door and said a prayer
So here I sit upon this saddle
To go beyond a dreamy layer
Take me away, sweet soothing sleep
Bind my eyes in everlasting bliss
Drift carelessly, but surely keep
My mind at rest with a deep deep kiss
I write to say that night has come
I must say bye and wed my bed
To wake by morn and then find some
Relishing how I slept well fed
This is so lovely, something you could easily read to a child before sleep. Thank you for sharing it with us 💚
Thank you so much. I actually read it to my friends the night I wrote it. Feels good to sleep off at night cuddled by good poetry. Thank you so much
