in #travel7 years ago

Finding the right flight ticket can be both expensive and exhausting, It is kind of a science to really find the right ticket for the right price, But it shouldn't be that expensive in this post I will cover some of the hacks that you can use to find the cheapest and most convenient tickets that matches your budget goals

So here are some steps to follow the next time you book your trip :

1- Book Early :

This one is a no-brainer the earlier you book the better,It is recommended that you book your tickets four weeks prior your travel date -and that would be the minimum- if you want to get the best deals.

2- Book your tickets on Tuesdays :

Dozens of studies have shown that the perfect time to book your tickets is on Tuesdays, and to be more exact it is recommended to book on the afternoon and not morning. Why, it's because airlines file their fares at this time of the week.
so you basically can get the best fares as soon as they're published.

If you can't book on a Tuesday, the other week days can be fine as well.

3- Avoid Friday and the week-ends :

Not only you have to avoid week-ends and Fridays while booking you also should avoid travelling on these days, I think you already know why, because everyone travels on these days since everyone is busy on the rest of the week on their daily jobs, so yeah do your best to avoid these days if you want to get the best deal on your tickets, Also the weekend starts in Fridays in some arab and middle eastern countries so if you're travelling through these countries you should avoid Thursday as well.

4- Consider Transit :

Going to your destinations using a direct flight can be expensive compared to transit flights. so always try to look through your transit options, no harm to arrive a couple of hours later to your destination if you're saving a hundred dollars -or more-.

5- Look for the small airport in your destination :

The majority of big cities have more than one airport: the popular international airport and another small airport usually used for domestic flights. for example if you're travelling to Paris the major airport is CDG (Charles de Gaulle) , but there is another airport on the opposite side called Paris Orly (ORY). So you can find cheaper flights to ORY instead of CDG and it is not always used for domestic flights a lot of international carriers operate to smaller airports.Another example is London : London Heathrow and Gatwick airport.
Why ? : it's mainly because of service charges and taxes , when you book your ticket to a major airport you are obliged to pay all the airport taxes and fees which makes your ticket more expensive.another thing is the handling charges, the airlines pay handling charges to the airports and handling agents, these charges can be more expensive in a big airport than it is in a small airport which also leads to you paying more for your ticket.

Important Note : Make sure that the airport you're flying to is accessible by metro or public bus,and check the cost of your ride to city before you pay for the ticket.

6- Start your search with budget and low-cost carriers :

Before you jump and book a ticket with some prestigious airline, try to see if you can find a better price with a budget airline.
Low-cost airlines are usually a great option for backpackers and solo travelers not having any check-in baggage and don't mind sitting in a middle seat. There is plenty of Budget airlines out there like RyanAir,FlyDubai,Easyjet,AirArabia ...

Note : Remember that budget airlines will charge you for everything starting from your seat, check-in luggage to printing your boarding pass, put all these costs into consideration before you go ahead and book your flight.
