Only thing holding STEEM back right now
I've been on the platform for the past week and I'm very excited about steem as a virtual currency platform. However, the only part of the product I have big qualms about is the quality of content that I can find. Top posts are often travel vloggers or some shallow content and it's usually pretty hard to find deep, high effort content. Being able to make steem from comments also means that there are many low effort comments put out there in order to fish for steem.
Steem has a good economic foundation as a virtual currency. It just needs to find a better way to get high quality content.
Now this is not to say that there aren't people producing high quality content on steem. I know there are tons of you guys out there. It's just that a lot of the content that do get upvoted are usually not.
What are you guys' thoughts on how steem can improve?
the search engine needs to be fixed
Another thing is the tag system. Sometimes people throw random tags onto posts just because they show up in some feed, even though the post and tag has almost no relation. Steem definitely needs to build in a way to punish people that use irrelevant tags.
I think it will improve as time goes on with more users. This will bring more quality because of sheer volume and more eyes to help improve the system.
