Tatra mountains in May
Here are some photos from long May weekend that I spent in Tatra Mountains in 2013. I don't really like going to Zakopane. It's mountain capital of Poland, which means there are like millions of tourists. I hate crowds but ok, my friends wanted to go so I agreed.
To warm up, we went to Morskie Oko, which is the biggest lake in Tatra Mountains. It was not as crowded as I expected. The views were great, as the lake was still a little frozen.
Next day, we decided to go to Kasprowy Wierch, which is 1987 metres above the sea level. I don't remember how many kilometres we did that day but I remember very well the huge amounts of snow on the trails. Well, in some places it was up to knee level. After about an hour my shoes were completely wet and my feet frozen.
I'm hard so I didn't give up. There is a cable car on the top of Kasprowy Wierch but I decided I'm not weak and I will not use it to go down. The views compensated everything! And because of snow the trails were almost empty which is not that frequent in this part of Poland.
After going down I just needed a new pair of socks and some hot wine. I was completely frozen. But, life's an adventure and memories remain :) It was a cool weekend :)
As you can see weather in Poland is a little unexpected. Sometimes it's 25-30 °C, like this year and sometimes you canstill ski in some places high in the mountains.
