Tower of Belem ベレンの塔
It is the tower of Belem in the Belem district of Lisbon. This tower is registered as a World Heritage site as "Monastery of the Hieronymites and Tower of Belém in Lisbon". Construction is from 1515 to 1521, so it's 500 years ago from now. It is said that it was built as a lighthouse, as a fortress for the purpose of monitoring the entry and exit of the ship at Tejo River estuary.
リスボンのベレン地区にあるベレンの塔です。
この塔は「リスボンのジェロニモス修道院とベレンの塔」として世界遺産に登録されています。
建造は1515年から1521年にかけてとの事なので今から500年前のものですね。
灯台として、またテージョ川河口の船の出入りを監視する目的の要塞として建てられたそうです。
It seems that this day was a Portuguese holiday and it is a long line.
If you have a common admission ticket called Lisboa card usually you can enter without waiting.
But on this day I had to line up for a long time even though I had it.
この日はポルトガルの祝日だったそうで長蛇の列
普段はリスボアカードという共通入場券があれば待たずに入れるんですが
それを持っていてもダメでした。
The figure standing in the sea of Belem tower I saw was very beautiful and made me feel history.
司馬遼太郎さんが「街道を行く」でベレンの塔のことをテージョ川の公女と称賛されていました。実際に見たベレンの塔の海に佇む姿はとても美しく歴史を感じさせるものでした。
