CONSOLIDATING PEACE IN UGANDA.
Hi steemians,
Today I was analysing the situation in Uganda today, with the high rate in the number of politicians being assassinated by assailants and wanted to highlight what we as Ugandans should observe to be able to consolidate peace.
What do we need as Ugandans in order to consolidate peace?
Our leaders!
What else?
The first step is the identification and analysis of threats to the current level of peace. We also need to find out what dragged the realization of full scale peace in the country. Today, what could be recorded as a threat to peace in our country?
I imagine everyone has something to say for the answer. My main concern is to point out that whatever level of peace we have as a country, concerted efforts of everyone are inevitable for its consolidation. The same efforts are required for its enhancement. Everyone’s contribution is inevitable.
Existence of disharmony may be accountable in the past, for a drift in peace. And non rectification of the disharmony could still lead to further drift in the same.
Hence, as a measure all avenues ought to he always used to discuss issues of disharmony that lead to a drift in peace. Concerned parties or individuals should always be ready and willing to discuss issues of peace for the wellbeing and development of Uganda.
1. Development.
What is development??? Briefly, here I mean growth in all aspects of life. Among areas of growth I include education, literally integrity by which citizens believe in God and respect one another. I mean a situation in which people are able to acquire good and well paying jobs and where citizens easily access good health facilities and so forth.
2. Prosperity.
What about ”prosperity”??? What is it about?
Prosperity is referred to as the state of being successful especially with money. It refers to an economic state of growth with rising profits and full employment. Prosperity also means boom. In other words, it means a state of economic success. When there is boom, then there is a sudden increase in trade activity and people are able to make money quickly. A prosperous Uganda would be successful economically and with good fortune.
With this brief explanation, how many Ugandans are so far prosperous? Some Ugandans might be said to be or might consider themselves prosperous, and that is well and good.
But as we know, those are comparatively very few.
Nevertheless, the government policy of “Bonna Baggaggawale” - let all people grow rich. This literally focusses on the real definition of prosperity. Uganda should soon become prosperous if only it would land on a formula of sharing equitably its natural resources which are mainly based on agriculture, animal industry, fishing, and minerals including oil (which is soon going to be drilled in Uganda).
The above resources added to revenue collection, should hopefully accumulate millions of dollars regularly. Being added to the total revenue collected, and the total equitably shared, should elevate every Ugandan to a respectable level of prosperity.
And now with the oil discovery, everybody’s hope is high! We have to rise up now against whatever evils that make many Ugandans egoistic and corrupt.
The feared barriers, the obstacles, the hinderances to the desired level of development and prosperity may be several, and might prominently include corruption, illiteracy and lack of entrepreneurship. However, corruption has been cited several times in media. And this has mainly been with regard to huge sums of money. We need to consolidate peace in the country and once that is well secured, it will act as the axis for both development and prosperity.
We usually here about developed and prosperous countries. Some of these countries are said to have developed and prospered very recently. Among such countries is Thailand in the Asian continent. A prosperous nation should have citizens that receive good financial and regular incomes. Thailand is a country that cherished peace and guarded it jealously.
Thailand town, bangkok with improved transport facilities.
Thailand as a nation also instituted financial policies agreeable to themselves and their trading partners, and its citizens w9rk hard with no traces of corruption. The media portrays Thailand as a country with very modern infrastructure, quality, quality education for all, knowledge of and respect of human rights, availability of quality health services and so forth. Now Thailand is referred to as a modern and prosperous country.
We eagerly look forward to a developed and prosperous Uganda. That will be the new Uganda with modern high ways, availability of roads enabling citizens to travel through their villages easily and without dust.
Modern hospitals and other health facilities truly servicing the citizens with commitment and real care.
Quality education for all, sufficient salaries for the working class, and proper housing for all Ugandans among other things.
Consolidating peace for development and prosperity is a vision for a new Uganda. This vision does not expect Uganda to have its majority citizens living in slums; it does not expect to have Ugandans who cannot afford two meals a day – lunch and supper!!!
Every citizen is being exalted to consolidate peace for development and prosperity as requisites that will ensure that there is good financial income for citizens, good and comfortable and easily affordable housing, a balanced diet, a general clean environment, easy availability of adequate health services, availability of good, comfortable and easily affordable public transport, good infrastructure in schools where classrooms have doors and windows that close and open, where classroom floors are cemented, and each classroom has a blackboard where a teacher can write during teaching.
G’day mate! and I Upvoted you :) !
