Man, did we had a fun night or what? In this post will review what happened in the main event of the evening between Yoel Romero & Luke Rockhold. Also, I have a few names in mind and will talk about them in my next post. Now to the man of the night...
Going into this fight I said if Luke gets cocky we gonna see him go to sleep. I could smell it when Luke opened his mouth in the pre-fight press conference for UFC 221. Karma is a bitch. At the weigh-in, we had the chance to see some drama as Yoel missed weight - 2.7 Lbs. An apology was accepted from the side of Aussie fans but it took the ability to win that interim UFC middleweight strap. Only Luke could get the belt in case of winning the fight.
And that's all she wrote...
Until this moment happened tho, it was kinda a back and forward type of fight. In my opinion, Yoel always packed a bomb when he landed, while Luke seemed fazed a few times and did not find the right grip. I'm sure he didn't expect Yoel to be so tough. Never underestimate your opponent, NEVER!
Post-fight interview
I was super surprised, not a single takedown was made or attempted in 3 rounds. There was a lot of talk about it, both men have shown interest in it before the fight. I still want to know how would that playout.
WHAT'S NEXT FOR YOEL?
At almost 41 years old we can calmly say he's getting near the end of a great career. Only thing on the bucket list now is the undisputed UFC belt.
Dana White, UFCs President said that a rematch with current champ Robert Whittaker looks like the next thing for Yoel. What do y'all think?

What an awesome card just finished watching it damn that second bomb from the Freak of the Freaks aka Romero was insane and pushed Cockhold in a stage of not knowing what just happened :))))
Big respect for Romero to put on a show like this with over 40 years of age. I hope is leg is not to much injured.
Man and what a great kimura submission by Pedro I told you we have to watch out for that kid should have gotten performance of the night for that submission.
Fight of the night: Jake Matthews vs. Li Jingliang well deserved this was an insane fight.
Like I said all in all a great cart and the Aussie fans in Perth where crazy.
SIck moves, Rockhold did kick him a few times ---> hard as fuck! hahah yeah was an awesome card. I saw Pedro, I dunno why did I think he was a Brazilian fighter or something haha Def a rewatch material!

I wonder if Yoel actually broke his leg during the fight - it seemed badly damaged, but his checks were on point. Must have killed Luke's shin! Not as much as his chin!
