Zaini added that the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque is a historic mosque that became an icon for Aceh as well as a symbol of Islamic civilization in Tanah Rencong in carrying out the mission of struggle and spreading Islam in the country.
The mosque was getting a place in the hearts of the people of Aceh after the tsunami hit the area in 2004. At that time, the Baiturrahman Mosque remained standing even though the buildings around it were destroyed.
"With this historical background, it is natural that the existence of this mosque invites much attention of Indonesian and international people, who want to know the history of Islamic civilization in Aceh and the development of Islam in the archipelago.
