Magnetic, Rope-Free Elevator System by ThyssenkruppsteemCreated with Sketch.

I used to be in the indoor-transportation business for a few years, and remember being impressed by Thyssenkrupp's project trying to take the product to the next level. I wonder if they're nearing a breakthrough in R&D? The industry is not always an exciting one, as you can tell lol. These are the recent videos that I watched regarding Thyssenkrupp's MULTI:-

(Looks like they've delayed their test-tower construction)

Assuming this new system relies upon electrically produced magnetism what happens when the juice goes down when in a vertical lift or ascension?

After all it takes a few second minimum to get the generators fired up- instantaneous battery backups perhaps?

It's not entirely decoupled from any surface. I think there's mounting to a moving part that's clamped in T-brackets between the pathways :)

These ones are very cool! I love new concepts that challenge old thinking and human behaviour. That's true progress and evolution because humans are such creatures of habit.

I think this is something that'll happen eventually. Grid-based, free-moving elevators are pretty neat :)

i think these are the same guys i read about having some IoT technology in their new elevators to continuous monitor and know when to do preventive maintenance.

Oh that'll be most major elevator companies these days :)

Agree. Should be in the direction for the decent ones.

Nifty!
