Now that various groups are coming up with ways to improve the platform's hook and identity, I would like to propose something for outreach. The plan is to get others to notice Steemit. This course of action of course, assumes that mere increase in adoption will lead to a net positive for Steem.

Please note that I will use influencer / creator interchangeably throughout this post.

Outreach by sponsorship and support

There are plenty creators out there that rely on platforms like Patreon, Kickstarter, Youtube, Medium, etc. Instead of contacting and convincing them to join Steemit right away, I would suggest supporting them on the platforms they are using first. For example:-

• Approach creators for sponsorship and reciprocal support.
• Supporting their work and leaving mentions of Steemit when doing so.

Candidates that are right for outreach:-

• Decent following of at least 1,000 people.
• Low maintenance / asking price.

Let's do this.

I'm sure most of you have your own favourite creators somewhere on the Internet. A good rule of thumb is to make note of the ones that you truly would like to support. Here's what we can do to advance this outreach initiative:-

1. Build a database of non-Steemit creators.
2. Determine budget and leverage for each target.
3. Work out a set of quality outreach assets - video, marketing blurb, etc.
4. Forming teams for interaction with creator on various platforms.

The best way to start scouting for creators that you think will be a great addition to Steemit is to browse through Youtube. Another way is through https://www.patreon.com/. The best way would be through known-contacts.

Personally, I don't think an ongoing effort to implement outreach this way would cost a lot, at least not much relative to the daily reward pool.
