Photocopy machine

Have u ever thought how photocopy machine works here is a perfect explanation for the stuff.

image

Imagine how difficult it would be if we wont a duplicate copy of something then we have to sit and write it,but after the invention of photocopy machine it just made our lives very easy in terms duplicating the material.
The machine size is bigger but actually its mechanism is very simple as compared to its size.

image

The basic mechanism of analog machine is very simple
and its divided into following steps
1)scanning,
2)charging of drum
3)transfer of negatively charged toner particle(developing of image)
4)transfer of latent image to plain paper
4)fixing.

This is how it works.
image

Initially if u want to take a duplication of image u place ur paper on a transparent glass sheet as shown in fig.

image

Now a light is illuminated from lower part of glass and it helps in scanning of whole image.
Now paper u want to have a photocopy is scanned by laser light, the matter will absorb by light and other blank parts of the page will reflect the light during scanning time.
After scanning the page ,now light is reflected back to a cyclindrical drum placed inside the machine which is positively charged.
The drum contains charged particles called selenium atoms ,the reflected light (generated during scanning) is incident with the optics mechanism directly on the cylinder as selenium conducts when light falls on it thus an invisible image of page is formed.

(If this thing is bit confusing then just imagine that when ur walking on road and an street light is behind u then ur back gets illuminated and ur image(shadow) is formed on road a similar fashion the image on cylinder will be formed by reflected light thus an image will be formed. See suppose a word 'A' is there then how it will form image on cylinder is in this manner.

)

Now cylinder has complete image or latent image of page ,now to make it visible a developer is used, the developer is basically a roller that has a negative charge, now that developer has magnetic roller brush and toner(black ink particle)
Now cylinder suppose rolls in clockwise direction then developer roller will rotate in anticlockwise direction thus because of opposite rotation and as developer is negative and cylinder is positive there is attraction between them thus toner gets settled into cylindrical drum thus image is now visible and only process now left is transformation of image.

The paper is then sent from opposite side taht has positive charge thus the cylinder material with toner gets settled on the paperas cylinder is itself negatively charged because of roller.
Now ink that paper has is not tht viscous that it will hold on paper so it is passed into high temperature roller as a temperature of about 220 degree is maintain where they press the material of paper and thus because of heat they settle on it.

In this way photocopy machine works.

The photocopy machine is also called a xerox machine as it was initially invented by company called xerox.
The name company got was because the company uses technique called xerography.
I feel that a part only difficult to digest will be how a charge is there on a certaion material, but its easy see if u deposit some type of atoms on object and then pass current through it they will ionize and thus material may be positive or neatively ionize.now traditional one's are bit diferent then modern one and technology in that used will be uploaded in the next blog.
Pls forgive me for grammatical errors.
