Mercy's Kit Have Been Separated From Their Mom – A New Life Begins

Mercy has 5 kits which has been separated from her because they are in their second month now and need to be less dependent on their mother and fend for themselves. They can feed on other feeds provided for them like yam and potato peels, potato leaves and processed grains. They no longer depend on their mothers’ breast milk as a source of food though they still try to suck but their mother discourages it by jumping off to another spot and kicking them off if need be.

You can see them in this video drinking the water that I put into the hutch, they must have been thirsty, they have been drinking a lot probably because of the hot weather we are experiencing sometimes. You also see them sniffing around, sniffing is there way of learning about their environment.

In about a month’s time they will again be separated into their own individual cages. This is to prevent inbreeding among them because at 3 months they can be sexual active and for the reason of genetics we don’t want brothers and sisters to do the hokky poky. Lol.

I hope you enjoy the video of Mercys’ kits they are really doing great and are at the size they should be at this stage. I hope to do more videos of them as they enter into another phase in life.
