Trump Says You’re Fired to Protesting NFL PlayerssteemCreated with Sketch.

Wouldn't you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, "Get that son of a b***h off the field right now! He is fired. He's fired!"' Trump boomed.

It does raise the question that many have been asking: What is the right way to protest? The whole point of protesting is to be a(n ideally non-violent) nuisance and an inconvenience to bring attention to an issue that concerns you. If your protest goes unnoticed, doesn't that mean you're NOT protesting effectively?

Also, why can't those who complain about protesters just be honest with everyone? Getting mad that he isn't standing for the anthem, might be partially accurate, but not the whole thing. Quit being Politically Correct and just admit that you care more about your football game or a flag than you do about police brutality and institutional racism. And quit using our soldiers, who many actually stand with Kaepernick, as a shield for your apathy.

EDIT: Redundancy

I've often thought that, as a means of protest, taking a knee for the national anthem is a truly elegant and non-confrontational means of expressing heartache and dissatisfaction with the status quo, and personally, I admire any athlete willing to make such a gesture, whether I agree with his sentiment of not.

He hurts no one. He incites no one. He only states, without words or a call to revolution, his feeling of cognitive dissonance with our traditional nationalism, and does it in a way that's wholly accaptable according to our rights as laid out in the Bill of Rights.

If it pisses you off, that's fine. If you try to move to prevent him from his small protest, then you really don't get what this nation is about and what it is that sets us apart from places where he'd wind up in jail or just simply disappear.

Sort:

As I understand it, Colin Kaepernick has never broken a law in his life, he is being blacklisted from the draft simply for voicing a reasonable political opinion. Meanwhile, there are domestic abusers in the league making millions and going more or less unpunished:

Some sort of social sickness. We see this in government schools and up; if you can play, there is a way. Just don't get all uppity and stand for something...

I thought this was going to be another conservative flag waver bumping for Trump. I'm glad I took the time to read it.

Well put.
