The belief in the evil eye dates back almost 3000 years to ancient Greece and Rome. It's one of the strongest symbolic images in the world. The evil eye is the name of a sickness that can be transmitted by an individual who is jealous, covetous or envious of another person's possessions.

How is called evil eye in different languages?

It has several other names in different regions of the world such as the bad eye or mal acchio in Italy and the projection of the eye or jettatore in Sicily and nazar boncuğu in Turkey.

The belief of the evil eye is that a person can harm you, your children and livestock or fruit trees simply by looking at them with envy.

What can evil eye offer people?

The British and Scottish people use the word "overlooking" to describe the gazing of the evil eye. It means the gaze has remained for far too long upon the coveted object, person or animal.
