Pagan holy mountain in Poland
It's called Bald Mountain (Łysa Góra), also known by its Christian name, Saint Cross, because of the monastery built in the place of ancient pagan temple.
The interesting feature are the treeless boulder fields on the sides of the mountain. Supposedly postglacial, but legend has it that those are actually the building blocks from the pagan temple, thrown away by the Franks who sacked the temple in 9th century.
The views and atmosphere are truly numinous.
When the mist takes over, one cannot see what's around the mountain.
