Who Cares What People Think!
Why is it that we give so much power to those who don't matter at the end of the day? We allow our friends, Family, Coworkers, and bosses dictate how we feel about ourselves.
Why do we give these people so much power over our Lives?
No one cares about your success as much as you do.
Wasting Time
Every extra second that you spend worrying about what someone thinks of you robs you of all of your goals.
That time is wasted.
Plus realistically what can you do about it? If someone wants to firmly believe that you are a jerk. They will do so no matter what. There's little to nothing you can do to change their opinion.
No One Will Remember What You Did
Ten years from now, Most people will have forgotten everything about you. It's the sad truth. No one will remember what you did Unless of course, it was a life-changing event for them. Which doesn't seem to happen very often!
We often hold ourselves back because we feel that we'll have to deal with the "embarrassment" forever if something goes wrong. But that's rarely the case.
It's YOUR Life
People love to give their opinions on what opportunities or decisions you should make with your life. While sometimes the advice is quite helpful. You only have yourself and your decision to make. At the end of the day only you know where you want to be. And that's something you have to do for yourself.
Sometimes we have to make a ridiculous choice, That doesn't seem to make sense on the outside, to eventually reach our goals. We may be criticized or belittled for it.
But if we let that bring us down, we will never do anything with our lives. Ignoring it and not caring about the opinions of others who only want to hurt us, Is the best way to move forward. So many people allow others to slow them down because they are so afraid of looking "stupid."
Everyone looks stupid once in a while. How else are you supposed to learn and grow?
Want to get loads of wisdom for your old age?
First you have to do stupid stuff!
Advice from a great grandmama (me) get rid of the useless stuff in your life, how old you are, weight, dressing to please anyone other than yourself, living and doing what others want.
And for heavens sake never regret anything you have done, it is part of life to make messed up plans and decisions, a baby has to crawl before they walk so don't second guess the steps you take in life to get where you want to be.
Be yourself for the time wasted on all the useless stuff just takes away time from being yourself.
Those that matter won't care but they will be thankful for who you are!
Well said, too many people care about what others think and put impressing them first.
I have been putting myself first more and making sure I AM happy with MY choices. :)
That is right. We all have different dreams and goals inside of us, so we can't compare ourselves to others or listen to what others want us to do in life or their opinion of us.
We also are made to be different, we are not supposed to be the same or try to become someone else.
The uniqueness and the difference is what makes us, us and we have to live our lives, not someone else life.
We only have one life and zero guarantees for a tomorrow elsewhere. So worrying about other's opinions is a waste of time, everyone has their one shot either waste it or carry on doing what you would like to do with yours.
That's the big problem with personal growth.
You have to look down on who you were.
It can be really awkward, but it's worth it.
So true! Personal growth can be a complicated subject.
I care what you think!
You are too kind @aggroed
Reminds me a bit of a saying I once picked up at a self-development retreat:
"Comparisons are deadly. Your life is YOUR life!"
We often give far too much attention to others and their opinions... for any number of not very valid reasons, including wanting to be "polite" and wanting to be "well liked" and other stuff. In most cases, people actually like us better when we are simply being authentic... and if they DON'T? They are probably not the types of people we want in our lives, anyway...
Hay yes you are right I think it's because people are not getting more busy in there work.
I try to stay HUMBLE and GRATEFUL and KINDNESS to others goes a long way. @kaylinart I hope you are resting and healing UP. Thank You for your Content.
Worrying about what that other person is thinking of you is a complete waste of time because that other person is doing the exact same thing.
In the end of the day it's your own reflection you see in the mirror, not someone elses, so you should feel happy and proud of who you are.
