COVER TIME: More Sarah McLachlan (!)
A big old thanks to @dreemit who got me back on the Sarah McLachlan train (I used to cover her songs back in high school but it had been.. a while, shall we say?).
@dreemit also went and mentioned me in a recent article of hers :). Super fab.
I just so happened to have this ready to post when she commented and told me, so the timing is cool.
Hope you enjoy. I did something particularly stupid a couple of weeks ago that I've been getting over so it was resonating in a bigger way than usual! :)
Enjoy, friends! Happy Tuesday! Lyrics below.
"Fallen" by Sarah McLachlan
Heaven bend to take my hand
And lead me through the fire
Be the long awaited answer
To a long and painful fight
Truth be told I've tried my best
But somewhere along the way
I got caught up in all there was to offer
And the cost was so much more than I could bear
Though I've tried, I've fallen...
I have sunk so low
I messed up
Better I should know
So don't come round here
And tell me I told you so...
We all begin with good intent
Love was raw and young
We believed that we could change ourselves
THe past could be undone
But we carry on our backs the burden
Time always reveals
In the lonely light of morning
In the wound that would not heal
It's the bitter taste of losing everything
That I've held so dear.
I've fallen...
I have sunk so low
I messed up
Better I should know
So don't come round here
And tell me I told you so...
Heaven bend to take my hand
Nowhere left to turn
I'm lost to those I thought were friends
To everyone I know
Oh they turn their heads embarassed
Pretend that they don't see
But it's one missed step
One slip before you know it
And there doesn't seem a way to be redeemed
Though I've tried, I've fallen...
I have sunk so low
I messed up
Better I should know
So don't come round here
And tell me I told you so
xx,
Kay

beautiful voice
Wow @kayclarity your voice was made for this type of song. I have long loved Sarah McLachlan.
Thank you, friend!
This is the kind of stuff I mostly write and sing on my own :). You can listen to some of it here: www.kayclarity.bandcamp.com.
I will definitely go and listen to more. Thank you
Sounds great! Don't think you even needed the guitar on that piece....
I'm not surprised that @dreemit was enchanted by this (she's the one that brought me here, by the way). Awesome rendition! Smooth vocals, ice cold, in the best possible way. The riffs with the guitar was done so nicely. Overall, great job with this!
