Predator
Dim unlit gloomy alleyway
A single broken neon light crackling and flashing
I slink silently,
Becoming one with the shadow.
I freeze and engage my senses
The smells disgust me
Unsteady footsteps approach
I remain still, unmoving
The footfalls falter - lose their rhythm
He stumbles uttering a curse
Standing urinating in a doorway.
Has it come to this?
Where is the thrill of the hunt?
The sweet smell of fear
Elevated heartbeat exploding out of their chests?
All I smell is alcohol
And the stench of stale rank fetid breath
I thirst
I need.
I am consumed by my hunger.
I am predator.
