Maintaining eye health in order to keep a keen view is duly done by everyone. But whether the problem of minus eye that has been experienced by some, is a problem that must be addressed
When talking about health in general, many forget to consider eye health. Until then there was a problem.
It is common for a person to experience eye problems, when it is in old age. However, taking precautions since youth can lower this risk.
Luca Zatreanu, MD, a retinal expert from UCLA, USA, reveals ways to maintain eye health. Zatreanu provides the five most important ways to maintain eye health, which can be done by them in their 20s and 30s.
"This is a general recommendation," Zatreanu explained. "Of course, if you are considering a personal medical history, some of these recommendations may not be appropriate. The best option is to consult an ophthalmologist for more personalized recommendations."
the following five lifestyle recommendation recommendations that can keep your eye health:
- Healthy diet
Just like all things related to health, diet always plays an important role. Zatreanu recommends a diet high in antioxidants, vitamins A, C, and E.
"Those who eat a lot of green vegetables tend to have lower risk of decreased eye function," he explained.
2 . Stay away from cigarettes
If you need another reason to quit smoking, protecting the function of the eyes is a factor that is often missed.
"We all know the cardiovascular effects of smoking," Zatreanu says, "but smoking can also increase the risk of cataracts as well as decreased eye function with age."
3 . Remember UV protection
We must often remember the importance of using sunscreen or sunscreen. But not many who feel wearing sunglasses is one form of protection.
Keep in mind, protecting the eyes from UV rays is an important step to prevent future problems.
"UV light has been shown to trigger more rapid cataracts," says Zatreanu. "But there is growing evidence that, direct exposure to sunlight without black glasses, can reduce the risk of nearsightedness for life, especially if these sun exposures occur in childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood.
So according to Zatreanu, do not miss the opportunity to move outdoors. At least in the morning.
4 . Reduce playing time of the device
One of the most common habits that messes up eye health is how much time we spend in front of digital screens. Whether to work or play, staring at a computer screen, phone or tablet all day can have an effect on the eyes.
"There is clear evidence, blue light can cause damage to the retina and accelerate the decline in eye function due to age, and also cataracts," said Zatreanu. "The blue rays of the LEDs can also interfere with circadian rhythms, so it's best to avoid the screen before going to sleep."
5 . If you see anything, check it out
The last step to maintain eye health is, to always be wary of changes in vision.
"If you notice any sign or symptom, consult an optometrist immediately," Zatreanu warned.
The first one must watch out for if you see black spots. "You may notice when you see a bright source, such as a screen or sky, appearing black spots or like a cobweb," he explained.
According to Zatreanu, this is called the vitreous floater and they are associated with structural changes in vitreous - the jelly in the middle of the eye - which is very common.
But if you suddenly realize the appearance of a flash of bright light, black spots, or sesasi like a curtain that covers the vision, this is a symptom that should be checked to the ophthalmologist as soon as possible. This may indicate a possible release of the retina, Zatreanu said.
