A stonebridge on the old road.

in #history8 years ago (edited)

Sørhus bridge, constructed in 1922.

In northern Norway there are not so many bridges constructed with stones. Sørhus bridge is one of them a beautiful and well maintained bridge located on the old road between the cities Narvik and Tromsø. I am not sure we can make such a beautiful bridge nowadays. It would be time consuming and expensive. So tis old bridge is a materpiec of work from the past.

Mange takk for vakre bilete av ei fin gammal steinbru @Karja
Heilt einig med deg at ei slik bru ville blitt dyr å byggja i dag.

@Siggjo

Takk sigjo for hyggelig kommentar.

Takk, @karja for unike bilder

Thank you, @karja for the unique photos,
in the twenty-first century, such bridges are rare.
I always look at your photos with interest.
I learn a lot about your country.
In such forests it is no wonder and get lost )
The third photo turned out great stones.
You can see all the cracks and curves.
With respect and appreciation, @singa

P. S. I know that Tromsø is a wonderful city.
There's a great bridge.

The Tromsø bridge was the biggest bridge in the Northern Europe when it was built in the 50s. Today even the other bridge from the Tromsø Island (built in the 70s) is bigger.

Thank you singa for nice comments :)

thanks so much for sharing

My pleasure :)

missing mountain streams - born in Germany but now living in LA=dessert-admitably with an ocean

And the pictures and the bridge are wonderful. Just a small objection.
I don't like that the upper part of bridge is painted in white. To me it would be nicer that the upper part is faded like the rest of the bridge.

Thank you Ivan for comments :I

The stunning old road bridge, with amazing camera touches, excellent photography,@karja

Thank you love peace for nice comments :)

Somewhere half-way on the road between Tromsø and Vollan we often used to stop when I was a child - three parallell bridges, one old stone bridge, one more modern bridge from the 50s, and the "new" bridge probably from the 70s. I don't know, possibly they've built a fourth bridge by now, as the road has been upgraded quite much during the last 20 years.

On these site there was two bridges my be the same place you thinking about. thank you so much for comments :)

Definitively not :)

yes ,,, I can see some photos you share @karja, from various sides of the bridge neatly arranged boulders. I agree with you, if in modern times it is very difficult to build such bridges and must take a very long time. all past relics should be kept well including the bridge sorhus.

Thank you dian for nice comments :)

Woow, honestly, it's so beautiful sir @karja.
I really want to go there :D

You always share wonderful content :D

Thank you ahead for nice comments :)

every day you post very nice photo with great location...

Thank you abontika :)

That is truly a masterpiece. Its a shame they don't build them like that anymore, they had so much character.

Agree with you, thank you for comments :)
