Without a doubt, the very idea of ​​talking to God can be intimidating. Many people ask:

• How could I talk to God?

Why do we think like that? As the Bible reveals, God does want us to talk and have a personal relationship with Him. How to do it?

The way to communicate with God is through prayer. But throughout history people have always wondered what is the right way to pray. In fact, even the disciples of Jesus Christ asked him to teach them how to do it and, in answering them, He gave them a role model in Luke 11: 1-4 (more detailed in Matthew 6: 5-13).

Many assume that these verses - more commonly known as the "Our Father" - record the words we should repeat each time we pray. However, a deeper analysis reveals that Christ was not praying when he said them; I was just giving an example of prayer.

But is not it also common to talk to our friends while you are standing? Sure, and we can do the same when we talk to God. Or if you prefer to converse with your acquaintances sitting comfortably, you can follow the example of King David and sit down to talk to God as well. Undoubtedly, there will be certain times when we need to pray and seek God, but we can not kneel. When this happens, the position is not important. The attitude with which we turn to God is much more important to him. However, when we pray in the tranquility of our homes and in the time we have reserved specifically for it, the most correct thing is to do it on our knees, a position that shows humility and respect, if we have no impediments.

Satan, the great deceiver, wants us to think that God is a strict, rigid and impersonal Being whom we should only obey and fear, and who is only waiting for us to fail to send us into oblivion. But nothing could be further from the truth!

God knows that we are not perfect and that we go through emotional ups and downs in facing the trials and problems that life brings us.

Generally, our first conversations with a new friend often seem forced, as if no one knew what to say next.

When we begin a relationship with our heavenly Father, we will probably feel the same. But you do not have to worry. God knows that we are just learning to communicate with Him. He will listen to us no matter how hesitant or insecure we are in expressing our needs or those of others. We must learn to talk with God in the way we would with a loving and loving Father, for that is just what he is (John 16: 23-27).

Whenever we go to pray, we should look for a quiet and secluded place. Jesus Christ told his servants that they should pray in a room with the door closed, in order to communicate with God in private. After all, we do not pray for others to see us. Yes, it is possible that at first we are embarrassed to kneel and pray. It's okay; we should only remember that our Father wants to know about his children. Praying to God is not something we should be ashamed of.

Some people set aside a certain time of day for prayer, as did King David and the prophet Daniel, who found time to pray even three times a day (Psalm 55:17, Daniel 6:10).

We should feel very grateful for the fact that we can turn to God whenever we need it. We do not even need to make an appointment!
