While traveling in Europe, @teamsteem and I visited a lot of museums. One of my favorite museums was the Louvre, in Paris. This beautiful museum is in the shape of a glass pyramid. The photo above is what the Louvre looks like from the inside.

Did you know that it would take eight hours to see everything in the museum if you only spent 30 seconds looking at each piece? Unfortunately, we did not have eight hours to hang out at the Louvre, so we did not see all of the exhibits. Instead, we spent most of our time in the Egypt exhibition. I've always been fasciated by mummies and the pyramids.

EGYPT EXHIBIT

This is the sarcophagi of a mummy. I'm amazed that the wood and paint lasted so long. The dry heat in the desert really helped preserve many of the pieces that we saw in this exhibit.

In the tombs of the pharaoh, they discovered a lot of statutes built to protect the pharaoh in the after life.

When the Egyptians died, they believed that there was an afterlife. The tombs were created to to hold all of their belongings so they could take it with them to their next life. That meant that their pets were often buried with them. This is actually a mummy of an animal.

Of course, no Egypt exhibit can be complete without seeing a real mummy! This mummy is their best preserved mummy and the only one currently on exhibit. There are a total of 6 mummy owned by the Louvre. The mummy's organs are taken out and placed in jars and the body is filled with resin. This helped preserve the mummy's body.

I hope you enjoyed this virtual tour of the Louvre! I highly recommend visiting this museum.

This is what I have been waiting for!! The amazing Lovre Museum...

This is one of my things from bucket list! I'm glad you gave me a bit more motivation to go there :D It's simply amazing!

:) aww yay! When you do go, you should get an audio guide. It really helps and it is only 5 euros!

oooh I'll take it all!! haha :D

I didn't know they were waxing and wrapping the animals, too. Interesting.

I had a very short time in Paris so I didn't get to visit the museum.

Greetings from Cape Town :)

O my god... It's gigantic...
So easy to get lost and loose track of time.

What do you think of the Monalisa? Is your last pic from Venice?

Le Louvre est probablement l’un des plus beaux musées du monde et Paris son écrin. Merci pour cette belle visite 👍🤪
