What we put in our bodies is what fuels us. As I've gotten older and more responsible, I've come to realize that eating a bag of chips for breakfast does not count as breakfast. This past two months, I have been challenging myself to eat healthier and cook more. Making home cooked meals is more healthy than eating out, and it also helps save so much money! Plus, I figured it was about time, that I learned the valuable skill of cooking.

This weekend @acromott and I went to the Sacramento's farmers market to buy fresh produce. We love eating salads for lunch, so it was the perfect time to stock up on our vegetable.

This is an overall view of the farmers market.

Since the fruits and vegetables are coming directly from a local farm, the produce tend to be fresher than produces from a grocery store. I've even noticed that the prices are cheaper!

After shopping around we ended up with a table full of groceries and we only spent $44.00 between the two of us. (This food will probably cover most of our meals this week).

If you have never been to your local farmer's market, I highly encourage you to check it out. Not only will you be supporting local farmers, but you will usually get the freshest produce!

Cheers to eating well and living a happy healthy life.

good post thank you so much

don't forget to up vote

Even I prefer buying from local market rather than supermarket. I country there is not much support from government to the farmer,so in that way we can help the poor farmers too.And yes we get fresh veggies

aww that's awesome! :) Fresh food is so good for you!

wwooowwww nice and good funn my friend๐Ÿ’•
Good smile and always be happy :)

thank you! :)

welcome :)

Farmers Markets are great! I wish we had a good one here. We only buy organic produce, and the closest things we have to and organic farmer's market is co-ops, which don't grow the food in soil (hydoponic) and are MORE expensive than the stores :( Event the CSAs are more expensive.

The fresher the produce, the better; because nutrients begin to die shortly after picking.

Oh yea! We have co-ops too and they are soo expensive! aww maybe you can start your own garden! :)

I have my own garden but can't seem to grow enough food :(

It's great that your cooking more and making a change in your life! I hope the best for you. I'm also trying to improve on my cooking so that when I move in with my boyfriend soon we don't get take-out all the time. ๐Ÿ˜„ I'd like there to be a variety of food through-out the week of things that are easy and quick to make. That's kind of the direction my blog is going to at the moment. But yeah it's nice to know exactly what you're eating and know the amazing food you're tasting is made by you. It gives a sense of achievement I guess. It's always great to gain a new skill. Keep up the great posts @karensuestudios. ๐Ÿ˜‰

aww thanks for your awesome comment. Yes, self improvement will only make your life better and better! Hopefully we both get great at cooking soon! :)
