🤸 The Art of Slack Lining 🤸

in #fun8 years ago (edited)

I live in a vibrant community filled with many circus friends. Today, I thought I would share a hobby many of my friends enjoy doing, called "slack lining." The first time I learned about slack lining was two years ago, when I first joined my rock climbing gym. Boy was I amazed!

Basically, people who slack line are able to balance on a rope. You can walk on the line, swing, bounce, jump and more. Staying on the slack line is quite challenging, as it takes a lot of balance, strength, and coordination. In the @dtube video, you will see my friend David do crazy tricks on the slack line. He uses his arms and core to help keep himself balanced on the moving slack line. To this day, I still do not know how he does it.

Some of my friends, are die hard slackliners. They take slacklining to a whole new level. They like to tie ropes between two mountains and then walk across the rope, aka high lining. When you slack line outside, you must account for wind, as it will throw your balance off.

Here is a photo of my friend Mel, walking the line at Taft Point in Yosemite. Crazy right? I'm still working on just walking on the line!

Anyways, I thought I would share this unique hobby that my friends and I like to do. What do your friends like to do for fun?

so cool! i love slacklining as well! such a fun sport and hobby! and really improves your overall balance for other things like long boarding or just in general great body awareness. i started in college with some friends and it was a great "recess" break from classes ;p

oh my... it looks like a very scary thing to do :D

OMG. This is craziness in a whole new level. Jeez.

They must have more than a full dosage of adfenaline to achieve this.

BTW, I don't know why I like crazy people. Could it be a sign that I'm kind of crazy?🙈😀😁🙈

It's delightful! It's not easy to do, but it's a great practice. I hope that you use safety equipment? 😍😘😗😙🤗🤗

Oh my gosh I would never dare to do that, I get dizzy by watching the picture.. Crazy haha. But they must have a good balance to be able to do this!

Dannngg I've seen that but only on TV haha this feels more like real life (omg why is being on a computer real life now lol).

Your friends are hella brave! I've jumped out of planes and off the top of deadly 50 ft. waterfalls, but I honestly dunno if I could do this.

My hands are sweaty because I got nervous just looking at the pictures lol (dead serious).

Pics are beautiful (and frightening). Thanks for sharing!

heheh! Right?!?!? My friends are nuts :P But I love them!

what a great explanation and what a crazy way to do it in the mountains! 😳👍
