Do you grow?/Walk with me ~ Grow Tent, Chickens and the Flu!
Is this a #doyougrow or a #walkwithme blog? The flu has hit our house and I am a #hotmess today, so it's both haha!! It was a day of taking care of humans, chickens and plants!
My poor girl is so sick today. I am hoping this fire cider keeps me from getting it!! Fingers crossed!
Quick batch of overnight oatmeal for the week....blueberry coconut today!
The chickens have started laying more than 3 eggs a day finally! As a reward and for some extra protein, I scrambled them along with spices and oatmeal to give them as a treat.
Eggs, oats, cinnamon, garlic, cayanne and oregano. Looks gross but the flock will love it!
Everyone but the new kids hanging out on the grass...I dropped one dish of treats off here....
And the other in the run for the new girls who aren't quite in with the rest of them yet. Poor girls
Until Reba notices they have treats....
Woah now! Everyone step back, Mr. Hendrix has to check this first to make sure it's safe!
Alright fluffy butts. It is safe. Now that the old crew is finished theirs they are moving in on the newbie's....not cool guys!
This is the cool new place to lay eggs these days. Check out that line up😉
It is raining out here now....crazy winter weather! No outside fun today so back inside to the sick kid and my plants.
I stole this spider plant baby from a huge plant at the post office. Going to plant it after it recovers from being in my pocket overnight.
Down to the growroom. The forecast for the next 2 weeks has no snow....this has me dreaming of spring! That means more seeds need starting very soon. I need these seeds to hurry and sprout so I can plant up and start another round. Since I don't have enough space or domes to keep seeding I do rounds of starts 2 or 3 weeks apart.
My seed starting tent. There are 2 heat mats in here, but the whole tent is kept warm so all the trays build humidity and unless zero light is required for germination, all seeds start in here.
There are still 3 shelves I can put up in these 2 sets of shelves, I will add them as soon as I need the room.
This shelf with the LED lights I use for the trays that have some sprouted so they don't get leggy on me. When seed starting is done and everything is in "veg stage" just growing until the spring, this tent and the rest of the room will be lit up with bigger versions of these.
Stuff is still coming along very slowly. I had a poor germination rate with some hot peppers (they were older seed, I kind of expected it) so I planted them up in order to start some new ones.
These 3 I threw in pots one week ago. See the difference in size between them and the ones left in the small cells? They really take off when the roots get more room....
The smaller ones were potted today. They spent one extra week in the starting tray.
I also pulled one rhubarb to check on the roots and repotted it. The roots have room so I will leave the rest of them in for a few more days.
This is a quick makeshift light area under the main table. I have a fan going on these peppers and rhubarb. The first 36 4" pots ready to grow there for the next month or so!
I potted my first round of CBD clones grown in the hydro bucket up into soil 5 days ago. These are the roots now....
The sweet potato is rocking along. Check out that perfect leaf....
She has 4 vines started now.
Some new stuff showed up....here is some baby Lemon Balm and Summer Savory!! So cute!
These are heirloom mini sweet mixed peppers...they are dwarf pepper plants but they yeild dozens of peppers at a time, so I am doubling them this year.
This is them from last year...how adorable are these peppers??
Some eggplants almost at the true leaf stage
And some sage starting to look like sage!
The next couple of #doyougrows will cover transplanting, nutrients and the hydro system. I am working on all 3 currently!!
Oh! Now this is cool....found this little solitary wasp or bee mud house inside a starting cell tray. It is really well built lol!!
Can you spot it?
Zoomed in and you can see inside the rooms!
So cool!
That is it for now, friends. I have to stay near my poor sick girl now....fingers crossed I don't get it too you guys!!!!
Thank you for reading! Take care of you and yours ❤
HEY! Do you have gardens to feed your family or community or do you grow plants? Please feel free to use the #doyougrow tag for any of your gardening and plant loving posts! I would love to see what you grow and where you grow it
I am always looking for new tips and inspiration. I believe it is so important to learn how to grow food as food security and our health is so important. Plus, gardening is rebellious!! Save money and put the healthy back in your food ❤ I will check the tag often to upvote and comment, so let's grow good food for our families and earn Steem together!
I got the seeds you sent me!! ^_^ <33 Such a variety you are planting you really know your gardening! This will be my first year where I don't end up having to move again. I somehow manage to avoid colds by believing i'm immune but i'm a lil crazy lol. I hope your girl feels better soon!
Yay!! I am so glad! Grow little seeds grow:) I am excited you don't have to move and can get your garden on! I believe the same haha!! I am rejecting this flu with all my might...mind over matter;) Hopefully my girl shakes it soon tho:( <3
do you keep the fan on the young seedlings to help strengthen the stems? or for air circulation in general!
stay well, i hope your sweet girl gets to feeling better soon! <3
Yes, it mimicks wind so the plants strenghten as well as circulation. It makes it hard for insects to hunker down and multiply too...we will be mounting a big one from the ceiling when the grow room fills up more, it will cover a lot of area.
So far, still well! Working on her tho:(
<3 <3<3
Thanks for taking us along. You plants are coming out very nicely, great job!
Thank you! I am so impatient lol! I want them to grow faster haha!!
Wow, you have quite an impressive indoor gardening setup! I am trying something new this year...starting all my seeds in the coldframe. I'm not sure how the peppers and eggplant will fare, but the tomatoes will probably do fine. Just trying to minimize my work and soil in the house. Wish me luck! Ps - I'm in zone 6b - NS
So sorry to hear your baby is sick :( I know you'll mend her in no time, she looks so sweet sleeping.
Your plants are kicking freekin' ASS!
And of course, my fave...
FLUFFY BUTTS!!!!!
I actually asked my chicken lady to hatch me more like Miss Adele. Omg she is the biggest, fluffiest breed. I must have more muhaha! 3 weeks.....poor Ruby has it soooo bad. Stupid flu!!
Your photo is awesome , do you usee micro camera?
No, just my phone camera! I was surprised too:)

What zone are you in? You are starting so far ahead of me, but I am Zone 4A.
I am zone 5b but we have a hard time with peppers, alliums and eggplants here. Those and tomatoes need to be started early to try and get at least one good round of harvest if not 2
I am really lovin' my grow tent. WIsh I had bought one sooner. It has given me an early sowing schedule and I can get my herbs started now.
It is a game changer for sure!! The difference in the final harvest is huge when you get a jump start on seedlings...you are going to have a great year:)
Nice your post....
Thank you:)
