Tea for 2 in a haunted castle. A nice treat but no ghosts 👻👻

Here is is, the day i have been promising writing about for weeks :

Me and Hubby's Tea for 2 At Lumley Castle.

The castle is around 15 miles away from us but we have never been even though we have lived in this area all our lives, this was bought for me and hubby's 27th wedding anniversary back in January but we never got the time to arrange it. We have both had a few bad weeks health so this was the perfect way to celebrate that its over.

The grounds are beautiful, with loads if greenery plus hubby noticed there is a golf course alongside of the castle. As i enjoyed looking at the scenery and old building hubby enjoyed checking out the stone work, with him being a bricklayer he seemed to be interested in there work. I was hoping to catch a bit of wildlife whilst i was there, it was rather cold and windy even though the sun was shining plus there was a few people out walking dogs and golfing. The greenery is gorgeous with so many beautiful big tree's.

We were surprised to see the castle was really busy, busier than we expected, parking the car was difficult. It was busy as there was a craft and art fair that we didn't know was on today, if we had known we would have gone slightly earlier so we could have had a look.

I had done some research on the castle especially when i read that i is haunted. Lily Lumley . She was the 1st wife of Ralph Lumley, she was supposedly pushed down a well by 2 priests because she refused the catholic Faith. I love to read about ghosts and would love to go on a ghost hunt. As we were walking to the Black Knight Restaurant for our tea for 2 we came across the well that is cordoned off but you can look down it in the hope of seeing Lily.

This stands not far from the restaurant, the hall has a eerie feeling but think a castle does as he corridors are small and dark. We kept peeping over hoping to see something, Thankfully we didn't see any priests hanging around either.

The tea room was just what i had hoped, it was in the castle, i couldn't take photos as there was quite a few people eating but i did take a few snaps of our treats. Hubby looks happy.

We had finger sized sandwich's, cakes & so much coffee.

Sandwich's

Beef and chutney
Salmon and cucumber
Cheese Savoury
Tuna.

Cakes

Scones with clotted cream and jam
Lemon cheesecake
Macarrons
Chocolate and Mint mousse cake
Choux buns with Raspberry cream.

We cleaned the plates and had 3 cups of delicious coffee each.

On the way out we had another look down the well then decided to walk a different way back to the car so we could see more of the castle. I wish i could walk further as would have loved to see more of the inside of the castle. There was so much to see. I carried my camera with me snapping when i could.

Then it was back home as it was really starting to get cold. me and hubby are going to book it up again for his mum to go, we missed her birthday with being poorly, she will love tea in a castle and enjoy a walk around. Its going to be a surprise. I would recommend if your in the area to go check it out. You never know you just might meet Lilly Lumley.
