Swamp Sparrow
Hello Steemians
This swamp sparrow is found throughout the mid and Eastern part of North America.
As it's name suggests it is found in swamps, and marshes. With legs longer then other
members of it's genus, it uses them to wade along shore and forage, sometimes........
even putting it's head under water to capture invertebrates. It also feeds
on seeds and fruits.
Their numbers have been stable, with 30 million estimated population.
In order to maintain their numbers, protecting our wetlands will
be crucial.
Love Swamp Sparrows. We get them very uncommonly in winter here in Washington, and I am still hoping to see as a Pierce County bird, but when I travel east they are really fun to see. Much brighter and singing on their breeding territory. Good post.
Thanks, they are very plentiful here, especially around the marsh
where I hike and take pics.
