Tibb's Frankie review - Great choice for quick, tasty kathi rolls

I really don't have to plan for dinner on most days. However, the cook has gone missing lately and therefore I had to think about what to eat for dinner yesterday. When my wife is not travelling for work, we both usually rely on delivery, but yesterday that wasn't the case so I decided to grab a quick dinner on my way back home from work. That took me to Tibb's Frankie.

I did look around the area before making the choice. There were plenty of options available but Tibb's was empty and i like frankies/kathi rolls.

It is a pure takeaway joint and is spread throughout Mumbai City. For those who are not aware, Kathi roll is a wrap. Bread can be whole wheat, or white flour, pan fried, a layer of egg in the meat options, and the filling can be veggies, potato mash or meat such as chicken and mutton. The prep of the filling can vary and many combinations work very well.

Now, let's have a look at the menu.

Tibb's was also running a festive offer - it is a period of a lot of festivals being celebrated across India. Most shops have discounts, it is like Christmas in the West -

I chose to order chicken frankie from the festive deal as I don't think this kind of joint is the place to benefit from cooking expertise of a chef. The place is a fast food franchise, cheap option probably sells most and I wanted to go cheap.

The guy making the roll was very friendly. I had a nice chat with him. Wait time to get his attention was 0, prep time 5 minutes. He heated up the wrap, rolled it up and served it to me.

And this is my frankie -

The wrap was great, so great I ordered another one.

The chicken filling was nice and not too soicy. Chicken was very succulent and the hot wrap tasted awesome after a 5k run, I had done 45 minutes before.

I think a better option would be something more dry like chicken tikka because a curried filling will flow out if you take a bite on the side.

There is no mayonnaise or cheese in the wrap which for me was a plus. I hate both those things in wraps.

Price wise, Tibb's offers great bang per buck, specially the festive offer. The menu could do with better vegetarian alternatives. Hygiene wise, it is better than eating rolls on the street. The cooking/preparing area was sufficiently clean.

I would rate the roll a 4 on 5 (scale 1 to 5, 5 being best) and the place also 4 on 5.
