Hotel KK Punjab review - A gimmick free, food and taste driven restaurant

So the absence of my cook at home continued yesterday, and yet again, I had the option to explore a new restaurant for dinner. I like that I'm getting to try a few places near my house, so that I know the best places for every occasion.

I decided to go to KK Punjab for dinner yesterday. I had been there once before to try out their tandoori chicken and chicken biryani but I wasn't impressed the lady time. I decided to give the place another try hoping to find better food this time.

In terms of seating, the place has indoor as well as outdoor seating. The weather in Mumbai can get very humid during October, so I decided to stay outside as there was a nice breeze blowing. The place does not have air conditioning so that is something to keep in mind.

In terms of aesthetics, the place gives a feel of a roadside 'Dhaba'. And the service and menu compliment the whole feel. let's take a look at the menu now -

I liked the fact that they had a 4 page menu focusing only on Indian food. Even though it was four pages, there is enough choice for vegetarians and non vegetarians.

I knew the biryani is disappointing, so I ordered a boneless chicken Masala and tandoori roti.

The food came quickly. It was piping hot and the look and smell is sure to make you drool.

The roti flour is a mix of wheat and white flour. The chicken though, had such a beautiful thick gravy, one could eat a roti with just that. It had a tang, from tomatoes and amchoor spice. quantity was more than
enough for one person but isn't enough to be shared between two.

I devoured my food and then ordered another roti to wipe the plate clean.

I couldn't clean the plate but I would have loved to, only I was way too full.

Bill was INR 211, or US$ 3. very reasonable for the quality, and quantity of food.

Other info about the place-
There's no concept of reservation here, no finger bowls or waiters asking you how did you like the food.

They know their food is great and no one can argue with them about that.
