I have been posting vacation photos and more or less ignoring the goings on in my garden, but things have been happening there. When I left for my vacation on April 1st, there was still 1 meter (39.374") of snow on my front lawn. I returned on the 17th and watched the last little bit disappear by the 19th. Now, my lawn is greening and I have had flowers for a week. It seems we could blink and miss spring here.

Each year, it's a race to see what flowers come up first and it's usually close. Here is the order this year. First, was the hyacinth I planted last year after it had bloomed inside. Second was the pulmonaria in the first photo. Third place goes to the Scilla, below. They were all barely out when I took the photos.

We had some sunny days this week so I removed the leaf cover from the more tender perennials. It's such a pleasure to work outside as the temperature warms up. Now I'm watching the daffodils and the magnolia race for fourth place.

Beautiful photos, Kansuze:) So nice the flower progression of Spring. We are a little ahead in Vancouver and are well onto rhododendrons and azalea. I went shutter wild today in Stanley Par.

I look forward to your photos. Our big Tulip Festival starts today and I hope we have tulips up!

Adding my wishes for you:)

Your growth period is so short compared to ours, it's interesting to see how quickly plants grow

I think they grow every bit as quickly as they do in the rain forest but for a much shorter period of time. As for agriculture and horticulture, the Experimental Farm in Ottawa has bred many plants for our shorter growing season.

All of the images are mind blowing. Very nice..
