¿What is Ripple?

The start-up based in San Francisco has been in the news in the last week for its great record. But what is it, what makes it different and where is it going?

"It is the fastest and most scalable digital asset, allowing global payments in real time anywhere in the world," according to the Ripple website. "Developed for business use, XRP offers banks and payment providers a reliable on-demand option to obtain liquidity for cross-border payments."

The website also notes that payments are resolved in a matter of seconds. Ethereum, by comparison, reaches two minutes or more, and bitcoin payments are resolved in a matter of an hour or more.

The company claims that it has more than 100 banks and other financial institutions around the world that use its systems, and that most of these financial institutions are located in South Korea and Japan.

XRP investors have observed that Ripple is a more stable alternative to the mania surrounding bitcoin. In a LinkedIn post, a Ripple investor named Archimedes Sapitula noted that "fear, uncertainty and doubt" make investors get bored in XRP or avoid the risk of a possible loss.

Honestly, the problem with these panic sales is that everyone looks at the 24-hour / one-week chart when they should look at it from a longer perspective of at least 3 months. XRP follows the SAME trend as any large currency, pumps and then stabilizes approximately at the midpoint between the historical maximum and the price before the increase.
